"For your ma'am", I turned to look at the bartender who placed another glass in front of me, "I didn't order" I politely declined handing the drink back, "there's a note" he explained, smiling before walking away without the drink. I look down at the note placed in my hand, it was on pink love heart shaped paper and had a slight tear at the top as if it had been ripped from a notebook

To the blonde haired blue eyed beauty,
Not sure if I'm your type but your definitely mine. I'm sat at the bar of your interested but no hard feelings if not. Enjoy the drink

My two friends starred at me intensely, "so who's it from? What does it say?" Emily asked "it says they are sat at the bar, I'm their type but their not sure if their mine, no hard feelings" I read showing them both the note. The cursive handwriting and love heart is almost feminine making my heart skip a beat, I'd never been hit on by a woman before "a guy didn't write this, not a chance" Macey laughed "no guy is that easy going, maybe she means her type as in women and isn't sure if that's your type" Emily nodded agreeing "this could be your chance, just walk up to the bar and see who's there" Emily suggested. I wasn't sure, yes in recent years I'd finally admitted being open to dating a woman but it hadn't happened, I'd been attracted to a few but it never came of anything. I looked at the note again, signed S which I'm assuming is the first letter of their name. Both Emily and Macey were watching me, from here I couldn't see the bar because of the high backed seats in the booth and I mentally cursed us sitting here. "Go, what's the worst that can happen?" Emily asks, "yeah even if you just thank her for the drink and say you're already taken" Macey agreed. I guess that's an option, "but what if, what if she's" Macey placed her hand on my shoulder "what if you just go and find out?", "I don't date" I remind them and they both roll their eyes "it's been three years and yes what happened was awful but you can't be alone forever, maybe a women is exactly what you need" Macey said taking my hand in her own. I took a deep breath, picked up my drink and slid across the seat and out of the booth. Both of them quietly cheering me on.

I walked towards the semi packed bar, the night was young but of course there wouldn't only be one person sat at it. My eyes glanced to the left, a group of 5 men, they only paid attention to each other and didn't seem to notice anyone else at all, not a pink love heart note kinda group. Next was a middle aged couple holding hands waiting to be served, unlikely to be them. Next was a group of 2 girls taking shots, they looked significantly younger than I did and barely legal so I hoped it was neither of them. I continue walking towards the bar and then my eyes land on her. She's looking back at me with a smile and lifted her hand to wave slightly.

With a straw between her slips, she smirked almost tempting me to approach her. I looked at her for a moment, making sure that she was in fact the one who sent the note which she must have noticed. She picked up her pink love heart notepad and showed it to me. I smiled before dropping my gaze to my drink. I definitely needed this to approach her.

Taking yet another breath, I willed my legs to move towards her. My heart rate increased as her eyes locked on mine and her smile growing with every step I took. The closer I got, the more I could appreciate her features. Her long brown hair, slightly wavy and thrown over one shoulder, chocolate brown eyes and a birth mark to the side of her lip.

As I neared, she turned the bar stool to face me revealing the black and white checkered printed pant suit and white v neck blouse she was wearing. Wow definitely gay. I pushed away my thoughts and contemplated my next move, do I just introduce myself? Do I ask what S is short for? Do I buy her a drink. But it's too late, she clearly had time to think this through.

"I see you got your drink and note" she said referring to the, now half empty, glass in my hand "I did, your note intrigued me" I admitted. "Good, I'm Stefania" she extended her hand and I took it "Danielle" I smiled taking another sip. Dutch courage. "Well Danielle, can I get you another?" She asked referring to the glass that was now half empty as opposed to half full "another would be great" I agreed sitting on the stool next to her.
