Once upon a time there was a princess stuck in a castle, but not for long. A prince came running by and saved the beautiful princess and the lived happily ever-after. I sure wish that my story was that simple. My full name is Aaron Michael McCain. I am only 13 years old. My parents got divorced when I was eleven, and at that point they were only 27. I live with my mom and my two year old sister, Mary-Margaret. My dad goes out to the club every night. He meets new people, but when they see the real him, they get up and leave. I see him every six months when we go on our annual family road trip. We do this because my mother thinks that my father is crazy. My father is obsessed with Halloween. He has decorations up all year, and has a stash of candy as big as the Eiffel tower! Now don't get me wrong I love my father, but he sure is a wackadoodle! My life is summed up into three sentences: Go to school. Stay with mother for six months. See Dad for 2 days then repeat the whole process. But today, life as I know has changed.
"Pack your things pal, we are going to the waterpark!" Dad yelled into my room. I walked down the stairs and saw Mom cooking bacon on the stove.
"Smells good," I said sniffing the air. The aroma of bacon smelled so sweet and tangy like fresh lemonade on a hot day in july. I slowly ate my breakfast and ran up the stairs to get dressed. I put on my swim trunks and ran into Mary-Margaret's room.
"A ron!!!!" she squealed.
"Mary- marg!"
"Help me find my floaties!"
"O.K. But first...you get a special visit from the tickle monster!"
"Noooo! Stop! That tickles!"
"Hey lookie here; your floaties!"
"Yey!"
"Get dressed so we can go"
"Bye Bye! Bye Bye A ron!"
"Bye!"
I walked out of the room and ran down the stairs. My parents were outside loading the van up. I walked back upstairs and into my room. I gathered up my things and walked back into Mary- Margaret's room.
"All Dwessed and reaby to go!!" Mary-Marg squealed.
"O.k. Lets go!" I said.
I walked outside and I got Mary-Margaret into her carseat and took a seat right next to her.
"Here we go kids. Buckle up!" Mom and Dad called out at the same time. They bursted out laughing.
Dad started the car and turned on the rock music.
"Rock out dudes! Come on A ron!" Mary-Margaret squealed. We started rocking out to Metallica.
Mom and Dad were talking about the wet roads and how they sucked.
"The roads are very wet today and there is a warning to stay off the roads," the radio blurted out. Dad always needs to explain things with his hands, so he took his hands of the wheels for a split second. We started to slip. Inch by Inch. We started to slip. Mom. Dad. Dead.
I grabbed ahold of Mary-Marg and shoved are way out of the car. Mary-Marg caught a glimpse of Mom and she started screaming. The Ambulance was here and they were putting Mom on a stretcher. Dad was still stuck in the car. I put Mary-Marg on my back and started running. I was running towards home. I reached home finally and then I tried to get Mary-Marg calmed down.
"Mommmy!"
Mary-Margaret started bawling. I ran next store to our aunt's house. I dropped Mary-Marg off and I ran back to the accident. Mom and Dad were gone and the ambulances were taking off towards the hospital.
I walked to my aunts house and I stayed there for a few days. The days dreaded on. One day my aunt said that she was moving and that would have to go back home. When I did go home, I brought home enough food for Marg and I. The house was lonely without them around.
"When are Mommy and Daddy coming home from their trip?"
"I don't know..."
