Great Mistake

Chapter 23

Scarlette's POV

It was our one year anniversary, and Chris planned us a date, and I asked if Sophie could look out after Anna.

"Everything you'll need is in the bag, right there." I pointed to the living room coffee table.

"Scarlette, relax, you're only going to dinner with your boyfriend, you're not leaving her for the whole night." Sophie reassured me and I looked at my sleeping five month old.

"Fine, but I'm gonna keep calling you every once in a while, okay?" I said as Chris came in to tell me that the car's ready.

"Yes, now go enjoy your date." She practically pushed me out, but I relaxed a bit. Lily obviously couldn't come because she gave birth a week ago.

"You okay Star?" Chris asked as I got in the car.

"Yeah." I sighed and smiled at him.

"Don't worry about Anna, Sophie's looking after her." He reassured, placing his hand on my knee.

"I know, it's just that I've never been away from her at night." I sighed and he kissed my forehead. She's been staying with Chris while I was in college.

"Now, lets go." I said and he started the car.

Ten minutes later, we were standing in Sol's restaurant. No one was there, it was only us, our table was decorated with candles and red roses, I looked over at Chris who was smiling brightly at me.

"Chris, you didn't have to." I said as he led me to the table, he shook his head.

"I don't want to hear it." He raised a hand. " You deserve it, you've been taking care of our daughter, going to college, studying while taking care of her and you've been an amazing girlfriend to me and an amazing mother to Anna." He continued and I started tearing up.

"I love you." I said and took his hand.

"I love you too." He kissed my hand and motioned for me to start eating.

"Why is no one here except for us?" I asked taking a bit from my food.

"Because I want it to be our moment, just you and me." He responded and I froze.

"So you booked the whole place?" I questioned widening my eyes and he shrugged.

"Yes?"

"I can't believe you." I laughed.

"What? I want to spoil you and Anna." He said laughing with me.

"Hm." We continued eating, until a slow song started playing and Chris extended his hand.

"May I have this dance? My lady ." He bowed and I chuckled.

"Well, of course, sir." I placed my hand in his and stood from my chair.

I rested my head head on his chest, my hands were around his neck and his were on my waist.

"Did I tell you how beautiful you are?" He asked and I shook my head with a smile, taking my head off his chest to look up at him.

"Come with me." He stopped, held my hand and started walking outside.

"Where are we going?" I finally asked as we stood in what looked like a beautiful garden. There was red petals on the ground, leading to somewhere.

"You'll see." We followed the roses, when we finally came to a stop, I was shocked to see Anna in a basket, I quickly ran toward her and picked her up.

"What the heck? What is she doing here alone?" I said walking up to Chris and that was when I realized that she was wearing a dark red shirt.

"Wait, I never bought her this shirt." I said looking up at Chris with worry.

"Oh, I know, because I did." He announced and I looked at my daughter again, realizing that there's something written on the front.

"Will you marry me?" I read out loud and I looked over at Chris he was down on one knee with an open box revealing a ring.

I gasped tightening my hold on Anna.

"Scarlette Peters. Will you make me the happiest man on earth and be my wife?" He asked and I couln't help but scream.

"YES!" I looked at Anna and found her smiling

He got up slipped the ring on my finger and I kissed him.

"I. love. you." Chris said against my lips.

"I love you too." I managed to say when we pulled away.

Chris looked down at Anna and kissed her forehead.

"I love you baby." He smiled even wider and I couldn't help but cry. 

But before I could say anything, Steve, Lily, Sophie, Jeremy, Evita and Sol jumped from behind the bushed and yelled "Congratulations." I looked at them with surprise as Chris and Anna laughed.

"Oh my gosh." That was the first thing I said, Sophie, Lily and Evita ran to me and hugged me.

"Oh my goodness, Lily you should be resting." I remembered and she shook her head.

"No, I'm fine." She kissed my cheek.

"Where's Ryan?" I widened my eyes at her.

"With Steve." She pointed at my brother and I sighed and turned to Sophie and glared.

"I was going to end you! How could you! You scared me!" I yelled holding Anna closer to me and kissing her head.

"I'm sorry, It's Chris's idea. And don't worry I soon as I heard your voices I put her in the basket, so she wasn't there for long, and we were keeping and eye on her." She reassured me and I hugged her.  I turned to Evita and hugged her.

"Thank you, so much." 

"Congratulations, Scarl." She said as Steve and the other came over to us.

"Scarl." Steve gave Ryan to Lily and opened his arms to hug me.

"Can I take my daughter?" Chris asked and I shook my head.

"No, you gave me a scare, I'm not planning on letting her go any time soon." I declared and we all laughed.

"I'm sorry. It wasn't met to scare you. I'm so sorry Star." He kissed me and I smiled at him, letting him know that I'm not mad.

I turned to everyone and yelled, "I'm engaged!" They all cheered and I laughed looking up at my fiancé. I held Anna to my face and spoke.

"Me and dad are getting married." She smiled and then laughed and we all followed her.

I swear, this little girl laughs at every single thing.
