Samantha accepted the bundle of money handed to her. Cecilia folded the contract and tucked it away neatly in her purse, at the same time pulling out her gun and badge. Samantha took a few steps back as instructed and waited. Jess’ mouth opened and closed in shock. Emma read Jess her rights and explained that she was being arrested for conspiring to murder as she escorted her out of the party. Samantha climbed up on a table to explain to the frantic partygoers that they purpose of the federal agents was strictly confined to this women and that none of their identities had been uncovered.

Whatever those people were doing in that party, none of it seemed to overstep the boundaries. Yet. Joseph made a note to keep that area under watch. Although it wasn’t needed, Emma got a full confession before they had even made it to the car. Jess had found out about Michael Hayes’ cheating on her. Then she had found out that Kelsey hired assassins to kill him. What she didn’t find out was that those assassins were dead and that Kelsey was already in custody. She wanted to avenge her lover’s death, ignoring the fact that he was cheating on her.

Samantha stumbled out of the party, unused to these kinds of shoes. Emma reached out an arm to help her and the two met up with the team in the surveillance van.

Alex opened the back door and came out, greeting the two with pats on the back. Joseph congratulated both of them on a job well done. Even James had to smile. When they arrived back, Clara was waiting anxiously. She squealed when the doors opened and ran to them, ridiculous bow still sitting on top of her head. She hugged them both so hard Samantha nearly fell over again. She was babbling nonsensically about how worried and scared she was and were they okay and what happened to your hair and oh yeah who was the potential murderess.

Samantha and Emma hugged back with tired smiles. While the rest of the team gathered in the bullpen for a little meeting, Samantha went straight up to her lab. She had an idea. She had been working on isolating the voice in the anonymous tip that had led them to the Capris sisters. She compared the voice to the one of both sisters’ voicemail greeting. She got a match. Athena Capris had called in a tip on herself.

This explained the mystery of how the two had been apprehended. Athena set herself and her sister up. She purposely left the agents alive and took one captive so they would have to kill her if she posed a threat. Then she started shooting, suicide by cop. Knowing her sister would be so enraged and surprised that she would start shooting too, Athena Capris successfully turned herself and her sister in the only way she knew how.
