Chapter 4 18/04/2027

After nine days of tireless work, the cabin had transformed from a dilapidated relic of the past into a vibrant home, echoing with laughter and purpose. The sun streamed through the window as Tobias and Sophia busied themselves outside, surrounded by the bountiful growth of their garden.

Sophia knelt by a cluster of young plants; her hands caked with soil as she gently tended to the flourishing vegetables. They had successfully cultivated a mixture of tomatoes, carrots, and even some leafy greens. Bright green shoots pushed through the earth, buoyed by the soft whispers of the wind. "Look, Toby! They are growing so well!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with delight.

"Absolutely! You have done an amazing job," he replied, kneeling beside her to inspect the progress. "We'll be enjoying fresh salads in no time."

Sophia beamed with pride, her heart swelling at his words. Each day, they had poured their energy into planting seeds and nurturing the earth, and at that moment, the rewards of their labor were tangible and invigorating.

After ensuring the vegetables were well-watered, they moved toward the small fishing spot they had established by the river. The makeshift fishing line they crafted from vines and improvised hooks had yielded plenty of success; fresh fish glistened in the sunlight, resting in a simple woven net nearby.

"Let us prep those for lunch! I can clean them if you show me how," Sophia said, her eagerness never waning.

"Of course! Team effort all the way," Tobias said with a laugh as he pulled his knife from the pouch on his belt. The lesson was both practical and light-heated, filled with affirmations and appreciative glances shared between the two as they prepped their catch.

Once they had cleaned the fish thoroughly, they set up a small fire pit outside the cabin using stones they had gathered earlier-a safe place to cook their meal. Sophia tossed some fragrant spices they had salvaged earlier into the air, the aroma mixing perfectly with the scent of freshly caught fish.

As smoke curled into the air and the fire crackled cheerfully, they began to take stock of their progress. A finished tree house sat proudly amidst the trees, now adorned with wooden walls and a sturdy roof that sheltered them from the elements. The interior was furnished with blankets and pillows, creating a cozy retreat that overlooked their garden and the glimmering river nearby.

"Can you believe we built that ourselves?" Tobias marveled, gazing at their handiwork with a sense of awe. "What a journey we've had!"

"Next, we can decorate it!" Sophia chirped, brightening at the thought. "Maybe we can find ribbons or some flirty vines to make it look even prettier!"

Tobias chuckled, the fond memories of simpler days flooding back. "It is going to be the best hideout ever! A secret sanctuary where we can relax and enjoy life together, just like before."

As the fish sizzled over the fire and the sun arched high in the sky, the sounds and colours of the forest enveloped them in a warm embrace. Birds flew overhead, filling the sky with their jubilant songs while the gentle rustle of leaves provided the perfect backdrop to their moment of contentment.

"I think lunch is almost ready!" Tobias declared, freeing the fish from their makeshift grill with careful precision. Golden brown and fragrant, the aroma wafted around them, making Sophia's stomach grumble.

"Yum! I cannot wait to try it," she exclaimed, her excitement palpable as he placed the fish onto two slightly chipped plates.

After enjoying their meal of fish accompanied by some fresh vegetables from their garden, the day began to fade. Tobias could not help but smile as he watched Sophia playfully toss scraps to the river, giggling when curious fish jumped up to snap them out of the air.
