"You've been zoning out a lot lately."
I snap to attention when the words finally soak into my brain, and I look to Tristan slouching on his living room couch. Absently rubbing his protruding belly he winces when a sharp movement causes his body to slightly jerk.
"Better than what you're going through." I watch as he uses the heal of his palm to push on the side of his ribs as he sighs deeply.
"The more time passes, the more uncomfortable I become. This baby is driving me insane and needs to hurry up and come out already." He pouts adorably.
I couldn't help smiling at him. I would never tell or show him how much I wish I could be in his shoes, to one day be in his shoes. I would embrace all the discomforts of the world if it would grant me the one thing I crave most. But that's not his problem or his worry. I didn't want him to feel guilty on something he had no cause to feel guilty on. I know it bothers him most times to talk about his pregnancy, but I want him to be happy about it not sad because of me.
"You still have about a month before that baby needs to be born so for the sake of your growing child, withstand as much as you can." I point out watching him wiggle around in his seat trying to get comfortable.
"Ugh. They're only going to get bigger and cause me even more discomfort. I constantly feel like I have to pee, knowing that more than half the time nothing comes out, I'm always hungry and I can never get proper sleep because this big belly of mine won't let me. And tell me why this child of Axel's decides it wants to be most active when I'm trying to sleep?"
My grin spreads wider as he only ever refers the child Axel's when they're doing something he doesn't like. Which lately has been quite often the closer he gets to his due date. He sits up and starts rubbing his lower back heaving a huge dramatic sigh like nothing ever goes his way.
"Any news on the Han case?" I ask carefully, knowing he was a bit sensitive on the subject. Especially after what had happened to him, Axel and Andi. I wouldn't blame him if he never wanted to talk about it ever again.
His shoulders slump as his face twists in disgust for a moment. "The hearing isn't until another two months. They've been prolonging it because of all the charges that is still being racked up against him. Lincoln wants the lawyers to grab every evidence they could against the other companies that have been in full support of Han. It's going to take a while."
He sounded a bit sad which I understood. Axel was gone more than he was present because of everything that was happening at the Nolan company and plantation. Lincoln was in full control now and Axel was helping him gutter out all the bad apples that were still employed by Han. Most of them ran off as soon as they found out that he had been arrested and Lincoln became the sole heir to the company, even though he proved he wasn't biologically Han's son.
No one knew of that other than our very small group of me, Tristan, Axel, Andi, Thomas and Sia. It was a die hard secret that we all needed to keep a hush on so Lincoln could legally hold all assets. Han won't say a word according to Axel because something Lincoln had said to the hateful cruel man made him completely shut his mouth for good. No one knew what kind of major dirt he had on him but whatever it was it scared Han enough to keep silent.
His cellphone, that was lying on the coffee table in front of him, suddenly started ringing making him lean over as best as he could in quick fashion to see who it was. When he reads the name his shoulders slump again, but his face beamed as he quickly answered. Slouching back against the couch he starts to absently rubbing his belly again.
