The soft rays of the morning sun peeked through the thin curtains, casting a golden glow across Heer's peaceful face. The serenity of sleep enveloped her, as she snuggled deeper into her pillow, lost in dreams of distant places she had never been to.

"Heer! Uth ja! Kitna soyegi?!" her mother's voice pierced through the tranquility, echoing from downstairs.

(Heer get up, how long will you sleep?)

Heer groaned, pulling the blanket over her head, desperately trying to hold on to the last fragments of sleep. But her mother's relentless voice shattered any chance of peace.

"Main keh rahi hoon Heer, utho ab! Tumhare office ka time ho rha hai fir late ho jaaogi!" Naina Malhotra's voice was sharp, her tone unmistakably frustrated.

(I'm telling you Heer wakeup or otherwise you will get late!) her mother said...

Heer finally opened her eyes, blinking against the sunlight. She fumbled for her phone on the bedside table, squinting at the time-7:45 AM. "Ugh," she muttered to herself, realizing she had overslept again.

"Okay, hey cuties, chalo apna introduction dete hai apko . Well, I'm bookworm, a certified crybaby, and a total introvert. But hey, once you get me talking to my people, I could go on for hours!"Pata hai, meri dost log hamesha kehte hain ki main kitni choosy hoon." ("You know, my friends always say how choosy I am.") She rolled her eyes dramatically.
"Like, what's wrong with wanting the perfect coffee or the best book? Mujhe toh bas chai aur acchi kitaabein chahiye!" ("All I need are good tea and great books!")She sighed, glancing at the clock. "But look at me now! I'm going to be late, and you know how mom gets! Agar main der se uthi toh wo mujhe 'Itni badi ho gayi aur abhi tak samajh nahi aaya?' kehne lagi." ("If I wake up late, she'll start saying, 'You're all grown up and still can't figure this out?'")
Heer jumped out of bed, shaking her head. "Alright, enough of this chit-chat! Time to get ready before I face the wrath of my mother! Let's do this!"

"Heer! Maine suna! Main neeche aa rahi hoon, bas 5 minute!" she yelled back, her voice hoarse with sleep. But even as she said it, she knew her mother wasn't convinced.

(I heard I'm coming down just 5 minutes!)

Throwing the covers off with a dramatic sigh, Heer sat up, rubbing her face. She could hear her mother's hurried footsteps approaching the staircase. If she didn't get out of bed now, the door would fly open, and her mom would launch into another one of her morning lectures.

Just as she stood up, her bedroom door swung open. Naina stood in the doorway, arms crossed, her brows furrowed. "Itni badi ho gayi, par aadat ab bhi bachchon wali hai."

("You've grown so much, but your habits are still like a child's.")

Heer forced a tired smile. "Good morning to you too, matashrii."
