The Accident
-
"I don't see why you can't just buy a house and we live back in Keon-Dun instead of traveling half way across Korea to some dumb countryside to live with great-auntie." Jeon rolled his eyes and crossed his arms in annoyance."Like I've said Jeon, they said I'm not fit enough to be a guardian to you, I don't make the rules."
"But you're 19 and you have a job! This is so dumb!" He whines as he stares out the window and watches the city turn to nothing more than trees and plains. I don't formulate an argument back just so this can be a peaceful 12 hour ride. At least as peaceful as it can get.
Being in a car, driving.. it all still hurts me. I can't be behind this wheel without thinking about it.
About the accident.
About our parents."Y/N watch out!!" Jeon yells at me as i snap out of my trance and realize the winding turn that i was about to miss. I yank the steering wheel as hard as i can to the right, the wheels of my car skidding on the ground as we just barely make the turn. We both catch our breath a a near by gas station after the scare i had caused.
"You need to pay attention when driving." Jeon remarks as he opens up one of his candy bars from the store.
"I know, I'm sorry I was just a little lost in thought."
"What were you thinking about so hard you almost make us crash?" He asks. I purse my lips and look at him, giving him a kind of sorrow look so i wouldn't have to say the words.
"Oh..." Is all he mutters before we hop back in the car.
Time to hit the road again.6 hours in, halfway there. Thankfully Jeon had fallen asleep and left me to my thoughts and the road. I had turned up some music and decided to speed up a little to keep myself awake, driving at dusk even makes me tired.
Thankfully even with my car being old it was holding up pretty well for this drive. Normally it's stalling or will break down after 3 hours but today it seems-*chick click chick*
"FUCK!" I yell as my not-so-trusty car starts to break down and comes to a complete stop on the side of the road.
"What happened?" Jeon jumps up from his slumber to see what's going on.
"The car broke down. I don't even know how but i guess a had a little too much faith in her." I cry as i sling open my door to check under the hood.
I open it and a gust of steam blows into my face as i attempt to take a look.
I'm no mechanic but i can look at basic things and see what needs to be done, but this time i had no idea."Looks like we're out of luck Jeon."
"Can anything worse even happen right now?" He scoffs in disbelief.
"Listen just look up the closest place to us, maybe we can walk there and get some help." I ask as he whips out his phone. He starts typing away but to our terrible luck...
"A gas station 10 miles away."
"Goddamnit." At this point i was on the verge of tears. Everything that could go wrong, was going wrong. We decided to take all our valuables and make our way to the gas station, it being our only hope. There were no cars, barely any lights along this street, we were almost walking in pitch black.
"My feet hurt."
"I know Jeon, just a little more." I sigh as we heave our way forward when out of the corner of my eye i see something. Is that..
"HEY HELP US PLEASE!" Jeon starts jumping and screaming for help as the only car we've seen this whole time is driving towards us.
"HELP PLEASE!" I start screaming and jumping with him at this point, what's the worst that could happen?
Thankfully the truck comes to a stop. I was a large all black truck and as he pulls over, to our surprise a young man follows out of it."Hey, are you guys okay?" The man comes up to us and speaks. He was handsome, like very handsome. Sharp features, tall, dark hair, and very obviously kind.
He was like a godsend."Oh my god thank you so much, my stupid car broke down on the way to my aunts and the gas station is miles away." I explain to the beautiful man. He looks genuinely concerned looking at the two of us as he listens.
"Listen I can hook your car up to the back of my truck and do you one better than a gas station." He states. Jeon looks at me and we furrow our eyebrows in confusion.
"Me and my brothers run a carnival just a mile or two away from here, my brother Hoseok is a great mechanic, he could fix it right up." He explains. The offer almost seems too good to be true, a sexy man with a truck and his brother can fix my car? It's weird...
But on the other hand he seems genuine."Can we please go with him? I don't care if he's a murderer, we can at least see if he's telling the truth." Jeon tugs on my sleeve and whispers to me.
I think of what best for us.
What's best for the situation."I'll take you up on that offer."
