mya's pov
matthew and his friends had sat beside me and paige. there were noisy time to time, but matthew being the captain and most mature one i assume, shut them up.

but i could sense that paige was a bit off. i dont know why.

the director was still talking, and paige seemed like she was absorbed into it.

i nudged her gently by the side, wanting to talk to her.

"hey, you okay?" i questioned

"mhm." she replied, trying not to be too cold with her responses.

"oh... okay."

the director went on to a sports leadership category, introducing the captains and their vice captains for their sports.

"this year's captain for men's ice hockey will be matthew parker, and his vice-captain will be collin turner."

paige then looked at me with a mixed of suprise and confusion.

she then leaned her head down to whisper to me. "is the guys sitting beside you your brother?" she questioned.

"mhm, why?"

"no- nothing. just suprised." she said, her voice now more lively and less cold than earlier.

the director then moved on to the women's basketball.

"now, for women's basketball, their captain will be a junior, none other than paige bueckers. her vice-captain will be kk arnold."

strangely, after speaking that line. the auditorium clapped louder than they did for other sports. i could tell paige was loving the attention and praise.

the assembly ended not long later, the auditorium starting to get empty. me and paige walked outside, with matt and his team following behind us.

i happened to see haylie, i went up to her wanting to talk to her for a bit.

paige's pov
i was about to follow mya but someone stopped me.

i turned around and see it was mya's brother.

"hey, how can i help you?" i asked curiously.

"could we talk for a bit now that mya's talking with hals?" he asked and i nodded.

"ive seen the way mya look at you during the assembly. i can tell she likes you and you like her, youre both good for each other. but please dont break my dimples' heart. we lost our parents awhile ago, and it really hurt her back then. but shes better now and i cant stand to see her back in that phase again. please treat her right paige, youre good for her." he stated.

i smiled nodding. looking over my shoulder at mya who was happily talking away with haylie. "i promise i'll do my best i can to treat her right. shes cute... and friendly... and nice. she has the purest heart. i love her dimples so i can see why shes 'your dimples'." i assured.

he gave me a nod a gave me a light fist bump on the shoulder, "see you around paige."

"you too"

i turned back to mya and haylie, and i could see mya dragging the shorter one over.

"paige!!!" mya called out

"can haylie pleaseeeeeeeeeee have you autograph?" she questioned

i looked over to haylie, noticing she was wearing a uconn basketball merch.

i nodded, "anything for my girl's friend." i took out a marker magically and signed her shirt, while haylie was blushing away, thanking me.

"no problem." i answered as she thanked mya too, then going away, probably letting me have some time with mya.

"she's gonnna be sooooooooooooo happy! she wanted your autograph for so long!" mya exclaimed, making me chuckle. does she even realise how cute shes being right now? my heart's already melting.

"and you dont want my autograph?" i asked her, knowing that she probably thinks im being annoying right now.

"w-w-w-well- i-i-" she stuttered.

i gently pecked her lips, then pulling away. "im your autograph, for life."

she was blushing and i know she was about to run off, but before she could, i grabbed her wrist, tugging her to my chest, then i wrapped both my arms around her, hugging her tightly, but not tight enough to suffocate her.

"heyyyyyyyy" she whined "not fairrrr"

"life's never fair. especially if youre mine." i said, placing a kiss on her head.
