It was only Monday of camp, and I had already met the love of my life. My mom's dreams of me finding a nice boy at summer camp finally came true because I was obsessed with this one. (completely delusional to the fact that I met him less that 24 hours ago) Sports time had passed and it was free time now, which I chose to spend doing crafts in the mess hall with my friends. We were supposed to make bracelets and give them to the new friends we met throughout the week, so it was the perfect chance for me to confess my love to Wes by giving him a token of my undying affection...a floss string bracelet that took me five minutes to make. I sat down at the table with Jasmine, Hailey, and of course Wesley and picked out my colors. "That Skylar kid really is a character" Wesley said with a slight country drawl I hadn't noticed till now. Jasmine started laughing with me and I looked back over at Wesley who had a confused look on his face. "It's a long story" I explain. "I've got time" He answers back immediately. I look over at Jasmine and sigh before explaining Skylar and I's entire past relationship. A while later after Jasmine Hailey and I finally stopped yapping, he looked at me, his eyes squinted with a quizzical look on his face. "He was jealous of a fictional character?" "Yeah" I laugh at the confused look on his face. "You mean words on paper?" He reiterates. "Yep, literally a word on paper" I confirm, smiling at the fact that he thinks it's as stupid as I do. "I can't imagine being that insecure" he says after a moment, and I laugh. "But you're over him now, right?" he asks looking at me hopefully. "Completely" I assure him "Good to know" he retorts back, and my face turns pink as I look over at Jasmine who is smirking at me.

I finally finish my bracelet, purposely taking a while so we can continue talking. "Do you want it, Wes?" I turn to look at him trying to act casual and not like the thought of him wearing something I made him didn't make me want to vomit from excitement. "Sure" he says smiling at me as I tie the bracelet around his wrist then give him a dorky pat on the arm to signal I was done. "I love it" he says smiling at me "Good it took so much effort" I say sarcastically as I turn back to the string in front of me sorting through the colors to make another one. "Now I have to make you one, right?" he says still watching me "I mean it's not required but I wouldn't say no" I shrug not looking up from the bracelet string trying to act casual feeling his gaze on me. "Alright then I'll make one for you" he says as he turns back to the ball of thread, that was supposed to be a bracelet, in front of him. I look over and laugh at the distraught look on his face. "Just as soon as I actually learn how to make one" he begins trying to untangle the mess of a bracelet he's made. "Why are you at the bracelet making craft if you don't know how to make a bracelet?" Jasmine asks laughing along with me. He laughs then answers "Well I was hoping someone would show me plus it meant I got to talk to Harley more so I'm up for it" I look up at Jasmine my eyes wide as she looks at me and laughs. I look back over at Wes who is smiling at me, and I laugh "Here let me show you" I say taking the finally untangled string and starting the bracelet for him, extremely aware of how intently he's watching me. I hand the bracelet back to him once he says he thinks he can do it and watch to see if he's doing it right. I laugh as he twists the strings over each other wrong and looks up at me with a pitiful look in his eyes "You're not very good at this, huh?" I smile at him. "Shut up don't make fun of me" he says, determined to make it himself he goes back to his knot of strings.

A while later people start gathering in the mess hall and I realize how much time had passed. Wes, Jasmine and I had been sitting in our normal spot on the back pew for multiple hours just talking when the bell rang for dinner. People started filing in from outside and our pew got more and more packed because we were so popular, and everyone wanted to sit with us. I ended up squished between Jasmine and Wes very conscious of how close Wes and I were sitting. Bradley (the owner and director of the camp) got everyone's attention to make a few announcements then say the prayer. When he said 'let us pray' I gathered up enough courage to hold Wes's hand, I always held everyone's hands during prayers (or so I told myself) so it wasn't supposed to be a big deal but it's all I could think of was if my hand was gross and sweaty or if he was as aware of our intertwined fingers as I was. The prayer ended and they started calling people up to get in line for food, Leah and I didn't want to eat what was for dinner, so we went ahead and walked down to the Old Porch to sit. Our normal porch people started coming down to sit after a minute and I casually laid my leg on the bench to save a spot for Wesley. When I spotted him walking down, I took my leg off the bench as if I was just adjusting in my seat and he took the spot next to me. The rest of that night flew by in a blur of conversations, laughter, and sneaking glances between Wes and me. We had held hands in devo again and when I gave him my gum wrapper heart, he acted like it was the best gift he's ever been given and put it in his bible so on Christian terms we were basically betrothed. I found myself constantly fidgeting with the bracelet he made me. It was purple because I told him that was my favorite and yellow because that was his and I loved it more than any bracelet I'd ever been given. After nightly devo they sent us off to bed and I told Wes a quick goodnight before going to catch up with Jasmine and Leah who were walking up to the cabin. "So, Wes is nice" Leah says giving me a knowing look. "Shut up" I roll my eyes and laugh as they tease me while we walk to the cabin. Awhile later I finally climb into bed, exhausted from the long day we had, slowly drifting off to sleep thinking about Wes and wondering if he was thinking about me too.
