The whole time Yang was just going with the flow because of his father but later he showed his true color by disliking Gu Lang .

Yang Shan stood by the door, his hands gripping the handle of the car as Gu Lang slid into the driver's seat, calm and composed. Despite being forced into this engagement, Yang couldn't help but notice how effortlessly handsome Gu Lang appeared, his sharp features illuminated by the soft glow of the street lights.

Their shopping trip for the engagement had been mostly silent, with Yang avoiding eye contact and Gu Lang respecting the quiet. The weight of an engagement neither of them asked for lingered between them . Gu Lang's voice, always steady and polite, broke through the stillness of the night as he asked, "Ready to go home?"Yang gave a silent nod, his thoughts swirling.

The idea of marrying Gu Lang was still something he couldn't accept, and yet, here he was, sitting next to the man, feeling an unexplainable pull. After a short drive, Gu Lang pulled up in front of a cozy restaurant. "We should eat before heading home," he suggested, his gaze catching Yang's.Though Yang hesitated, his hunger won over his stubbornness.

The small restaurant was warm and comforting, the soft clinking of utensils filling the space as they sat across from each other. The conversation was minimal, and every now and then, their fingers would brush accidentally as they reached for the same dish. Each touch, though brief, sent a spark through Yang, and he quickly withdrew his hand each time, silently cursing the growing warmth in his chest. When they finally stepped outside, a soft drizzle had begun to fall, quickly escalating into a steady rain.

Gu Lang moved without a word, holding an umbrella over both of them as they made their way to the car. The rain tapped against the umbrella, creating an oddly intimate atmosphere in the space they shared.

Yang found himself stealing a glance at Gu Lang's profile, the rain making the moment feel heavier than it was supposed to.As they reached Yang's house, he was ready to escape the night.

Yet, just as he opened the door to slip out of the car, his mother appeared, her voice filled with delight."Gu Lang! You must stay the night, it's far too late and rainy to drive back. Come in, come in."Yang froze. His eyes widened in protest, "Mom, no, that's not necessary-"But his mother waved off his objections, smiling warmly at Gu Lang. "I insist! You'll stay here tonight."Gu Lang, ever polite, gave a small nod, not wanting to be rude. "Thank you for the offer. I'll stay if it's not too much trouble."Yang's heart sank, and irritation bubbled up. "You don't have to, really..." he muttered, but his words fell on deaf ears.

His mother had already rushed to prepare the guest room. Or so he thought.Hours later, after trying to convince his mother to no avail, Yang found himself staring at the bed-his bed-that he now had to share with Gu Lang.

His cheeks flushed as he thought about the close proximity they'd be in. The room felt impossibly small, and despite his internal protest, Yang climbed into bed on one side, trying to keep his distance.

Gu Lang, however, appeared at ease, laying down on the other side, his presence strong but not overbearing. The room was silent except for the sound of rain gently hitting the windows, a soft rhythm that only heightened the tension.Minutes passed, and neither of them moved.

Yang lay stiff, his back to Gu Lang, his mind racing with the absurdity of the situation. Why did his heart feel so restless? Why did it beat faster with every shift Gu Lang made?"I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," Gu Lang's voice came, low and smooth, breaking the silence.Yang swallowed, surprised by the softness in his tone. "I just... didn't expect this," he replied quietly.Gu Lang turned slightly toward him, his gaze soft, studying the tension in Yang's posture. "I know you don't want this marriage," he admitted, his voice gentle, "but I want you to know that I won't force anything on you. I'll wait until you're ready."The sincerity in his words caught Yang off guard.

He turned slightly to glance over his shoulder at Gu Lang, finding a warmth in his eyes that made his heart skip. For a moment, the barriers around him seemed to soften."Thank you," Yang whispered, feeling the vulnerability in the air between them. The room was quiet again, but this time, the tension had shifted. Yang didn't feel the same overwhelming discomfort he had before.

The rain continued to fall outside, and despite the closeness of their bodies, the moment felt oddly calming. After what felt like hours, Yang's eyes grew heavy, lulled by the rain and the soft breathing beside him. Before sleep claimed him, his thoughts lingered on the man beside him, wondering how something so forced could start to feel so natural.
