The morning sun filtered through the heavy curtains of the Baron's study, casting soft golden light over the room. Leah stirred on the desk, her body tangled in the remnants of last night's passion. For a moment, she lay still, allowing herself to feel the warmth of the Baron's body beside hers, his arm draped possessively over her waist. But reality intruded quickly. This was not a moment for comfort or satisfaction—there was still so much at stake.

Her fingers drifted to the pile of papers scattered on the floor, some marked with the Baron's meticulous handwriting. They detailed strategic moves, hidden alliances, and plans that reached further than even she had anticipated. She knew too much now—more than the Baron would ever willingly share with her. The question that gnawed at her was: how long before he realized she wasn't on his side?

Leah gently shifted out of his hold, slipping silently from the desk. She dressed quickly, her mind already racing with the next steps. The Baron had returned from his mission last night victorious, but distracted. He had no idea how close she had come to uncovering everything. She had to act before he pieced it together.

Just as she finished adjusting her coat, the Baron stirred. His dark eyes opened, locking onto her instantly, as if he had sensed her movements even in his sleep. There was no softness in his gaze—only the intensity of a man who trusted no one, not even the woman who had shared his bed.

"Leaving already?" His voice was low, edged with suspicion.

Leah smiled, a carefully practiced gesture meant to disarm him. "Just needed some fresh air. Thought I'd take a walk before the estate wakes."

The Baron rose slowly, his movements fluid, predatory. "Don't go too far," he warned. "There are things we need to discuss."

Leah nodded, slipping out of the study without another word. Her mind was already on her next move. The Baron's empire was vast, but it was also vulnerable. She had seen the cracks in his carefully constructed plans, and now it was time to exploit them.
