Ocean was ecstatic for college to say the least. Yeah, she will miss her family and all, but she's finally free. Free from stress and the toxic relationships she had to endure. Here was her new start, a place where she could finally run away from all the embarrassing and bad memories of her hometown.

She planned on rooming with her friend Melody, who she had known since third grade. Ocean and Melody immediately clicked when they got seated next to eachother in their English class. Bonding over their love for all things art and language based growing up, they knew what they wanted to major in.

Ocean wanted to become a literature teacher, while Melody wanted to be a linguist. So here they would start their long journey of studying. Little did they know it would be a wonderful course of these next years.

"You know there is a party tonight down the hall." Melody was always the more outgoing and extroverted person, Ocean on the other hand, she was the complete opposite. And she was smarter than Melody. "You know it's not a party if it's only five people." She scoffed, "Ocean come on, I met a cute guy earlier while in the elevator, his name is Isaac, and he invited us to his dorm." She rolled her eyes, "Us as in just you, you can go and bang all night long, I would rather sit in my room and finish this book." She stated as she plopped down on her bed, turning to the page with her book mark.

Melody quickly grabbed her book, closing it and placing it on her side table. "Listen, it's only us two and his five other friends. He already knows about you, we both talked about our friends I swear. Ocean, please come." She was practically a puppy sitting in front of her begging for a treat. "If I say yes will you leave me alone tomorrow?" She watched as Melody frantically nodded her head. "Fine, but I'm not staying for long, nor am I getting drunk."

Melody hopped to her feet, opening Oceans closest to find an outfit for her. "Do I not look fine in what I am in?" "Ocean you are in your pajamas, no ma'am." Melody threw a maxi skirt and sweater at Oceans face, messing up her hair. "We leave in five minutes." Melody said, running into their bathroom.

Ocean didn't know what she was getting into as she stepped into the boys dorm room. She did know though, that it was very pristine and smelled like pine and linen. She looked around the warm lightened room, glancing at all the boys around her. Even though it was just six of them, it was still a lot for her to handle.

"Melody, so nice for you to come." The first boy said, he was tall and had longer curly brown hair. He bent down towards Melody, giving her a hug. Ocean could smell him as he quickly moved back and forth, this must've been his room based on how tree like he smelled. He wore a baggy grandpa sweater and sweatpants. He turned to her, fixating his gaze on Ocean. "You must be Ocean, it's so nice to meet you, I am Isaac." "Hi." she whispered out, feeling as though she was as small as a mouse compared to everyone in the room.

She turned to Melody, watching as she smiled at her invitingly. Though that trace was diminished when a mid height boy waddled to her. "I am Tanner." He said smiling ear to ear as he shoved his hand in front of her, shaking her hand aggressively. This made Ocean laugh. "Since no one else will introduce themselves, I'll do it for them." He grabs her hand pulling her around the room to meet each person.

"This is Larry, I'm rooming with him in the room next door, he's super short but kinda cool I guess. He's majoring in design tech and game development." The short black haired boy waved at her, though before she could respond she was dragged to the next boy.

"This is Grunk and Nick, they're rooming together too. They're cool too kinda loud and pot heads" "Don't listen to him, we get high like once a month." The long brown haired boy interrupted, pushing his glasses up his nose as he talked. "We both major in Music." The other boy said. "That's very cool, I love music." She smiled at them as she was being drug away.

The last boy was different than all the others, he was quiet, very quiet. "This is Blake, he's super timid and stays to himself most of the time. Although he can roll a badass blunt, he's majoring in teaching." Hee eyes widened, "Me too, I wanna be a literature teacher." "No way! So does Blake, y'all would be great friends." Tanner said enthusiastically, though that thought was crushed by an odd glance from the boy in front of them. Ocean's demeanor lessened as she was pushed to sit down next to him.

Blake clearly didn't want to talk, so Ocean didn't. She sat there in silence as she rummaged through her tote bag to find the book she was trying to read earlier. She snuck it out the dorm, fully knowing Melody would never let her be seen leaving to go to a boys dorm with an old literature book. "The Professor and The Mad Man, good choice." She heard a mumble besides her.

Shocked at first, she responded. "I picked it because of how interesting it was." She said, turning to meet his gaze. His eyes were deep brown covered by his glasses he was wearing. She felt he face flush, turning away. "It was either this or Teachers Man." She fixed her gaze on the pages of the book, becoming almost infatuated with how the pages felt.

"What is that about?" He mumbled out, feeling as he shifted his whole body to face hers. She spoke into the book, "It is a memoir about this man who was a public school teacher before his big success with becoming an author, makes me wanna write books when I'm older." "Do you like reading?" he asked her, making her skin flush, turning to him. Never in her whole life was anyone this infatuated with her nerdy books.

"Yeah, I go though a book a week almost." She admitted into the air, almost waiting for not response. After a few moments, the boy got up quickly and made his way over to the desk across the room. She was utterly confused, was it something she said? Long silence passes between then as he frantically moves around, writing something down on a sticky note, only thing being heard was the chatter of the people around them. When he came back over to her she was messing with her finger nails anxiously. "You should give me some recommendations some time." He said as he plopped down next to her on the couch again.

She sunk into the softness of the sofa, "Okay." was all she said before she was dragged out of the dorm room by Melody and Isaac. Melody got too drunk and threw up only thirty minutes into their meet up, that light weight. Ocean clutched onto the pale yellow sticky note as the made their way back into their room.

She sat on her bed in the warm glowing lamp light hearing as Melody was vomiting in the bathroom. Her fingers traced over the smudged pen in the note. She picked up her phone, creating a contact for him, and sent a message.
