A long time ago, two races dominated the land: Monsters and Humans. The relationship between both races was conflictual, hostile, and difficult, as humans feared monsters, both for their appearances and for the great power they could possess by obtaining a human soul. Because of this, monsters were always treated as scum and creatures to be feared, generating significant prejudice against them.

But one day, the monsters grew tired of this situation, and their king decided to start a war against all humans, decreeing the beginning of ruin for their own people. This war lasted a long time, but in the end, the victors were the humans, who, with great magical power derived from the souls of the wizards of the time, sealed the monsters underground.

Thus, the monsters were trapped in a great eternal darkness and spent years there, seemingly at the end... But one day, a flower monster managed, with its own intellect, to create the Core, a source of energy and light that could keep the underground habitable for the monsters.

The entire underground was then ruled by two brothers. One was the king of the monsters, named Sans, while the other was his younger brother, known as Prince Papyrus. Although Sans was the oldest, most political decisions were made by Papyrus, who was smarter than his brother in many respects. Furthermore, Sans was lazy but needed to be the king because he was the oldest.

With this government, many years passed, and the humans of the time gradually stopped caring about the monsters and the very barrier that kept them underground...

Mount Ebott 201X

Legends say that those who climbed the mountain where the monsters were never returned. But even with so many warnings, a child climbed the mountain without any fear. It is unknown whether it was by accident or a suicide attempt, but the child fell into the underground. It was a great fall, and they landed face-first on the ground. However, somehow, the fall was cushioned by the flowers that were there...

"Soft... comfortable... what is my name?... Frisk, I still remember things, and I can still feel, so... I'm alive," they thought as they stood up. They looked around, exploring the underground where they found themselves. As they took more steps forward, they came across something unusual: a small blue flower. There, they felt their heart tremble, and everything around them changed. The color palettes that were once vibrant and colorful seemed to take on a black-and-white form. The flower, which had been facing away, turned to reveal a horrifying face.
