© -gutspilled, 20245 YEARS HAD PASSED AND JUNE CONTINUED TO GO TO HOGWARTS, she had figured it was not in fact Satan's temptations or curse, her magic seemed like a gift from God. June had realised over the years that her family resented her, even her siblings. Their parents used June as an example of who not to end up like, to continue their faith and to not give into temptations ❨ like June apparently did. ❩ However, June was still faithful, praying every night and every morning. During the summer and Christmas holidays, she came home and continued her usual routines ❨ despite her family trying to leave her out. ❩
Pauline and Richard had always been strict, but as soon as she started at Hogwarts, their strictness turned to a whole other level. They saw her education in magic and betrayal, a rejection and failure of their expectations. They didn't want June to go, but June didn't even want to even come home anymore. Starting from Christmas in her second year, they would lock the doors right before the end of the holidays, they kept the key hidden so June wouldn't be able to leave. It didn't matter that she finally found her belonging, in their eyes, she wasn't their daughter, she was a sinner who needed to be contained and changed.
It wasn't until June's second year at Hogwarts that she truly understood how much her family disliked her. At nights she would hear the whispers of her siblings, Selene being scared that the devil in June would go for her next. Even during the year she sent letters to her family, she would talk about her life and how much she missed them, even though they didn't miss her. Once a month, they would send one back. The letters started out fine, first they gave her reminders that God would welcome her back. The letters got harsher over the months, filled with accusations of joining the devil and explaining how God would never forgive her.
It was after one particularly brutal summer that June decided enough was enough. She wasn't going to let them control her anymore. She wasn't going to be trapped, June finally found her home with her friends at Hogwarts, she wasn't letting her parents take that away from her.
By the start of her third year, she had started researching Animagi. She spent hours in the Hogwarts library, reading all the ancient texts and questioning anyone who might know something about the transformation—this included Professor McGonagall ❨ who said it was way to complicated for a third year ❩ Becoming an Animagus wasn't easy—it took dedication, skill, and a clear mind ❨ which some of the time June didn't have ❩ June desperately needed freedom, practicing whenever she had the chance.
At night, when her roommates, Reagan, Olive, and Ariana were asleep, she would sneak into the empty corners of the castle to practice ❨ one time she almost got caught by filtch! ❩ It was exhausting, but the thought of returning home to locked doors and rituals to remove her sins gave her all the motivation she needed.
