Note: Shiro, is a character that I just invented for this story and she is not an official danganronpa character.

Future Foundation Headquarters, a sleek, modern facility filled with the hum of technology and the chatter of dedicated agents. The atmosphere is busy but focused, with many agents working diligently to combat the remnants of despair.

Kyoko Kirigiri stood in front of a massive screen displaying the latest reports from various branches of the Future Foundation. As a branch head, her responsibilities were immense, and her days were often filled with strategy meetings and investigations. But today, her attention drifted, albeit unwillingly, to the bustling office nearby where her subordinate, Makoto Naegi, worked.

Makoto had always been a ray of sunshine, his optimistic attitude and kind heart drawing people to him like moths to a flame. Today, however, it seemed that the flame was burning brighter than ever. A small crowd of agents surrounded him, their laughter ringing through the air as they tried to catch his attention. One girl in particular, a new recruit named Shiro, was especially persistent, batting her eyelashes and leaning closer with every word.

Kirigiri's fingers tightened around the edge of the desk as a pang of jealousy twisted in her stomach. She hated this feeling. She had always prided herself on being composed and rational, yet watching Shiro's attempts to flirt with Makoto made her heart race in a way she couldn't ignore.

"Kyoko-chan, you alright?" Aoi Asahina's voice broke her from her thoughts. She leaned against the doorframe, her expression curious.

"Just fine," Kirigiri replied, her tone cool and collected.

Asahina raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. "You seem a bit... distracted. Is it about Naegi-kun?"

Kirigiri's gaze snapped back to Asahina, her heart skipping a beat. "No. I'm busy with work."

"Busy, huh?" Asahina smirked, stepping further into the office. "It's not just work if you're staring at him, you know."

Kirigiri felt heat rush to her cheeks, but she masked it with a sharp look. "I'm not staring."

"Then why do you look like you're trying to burn a hole in Shiro with your eyes?" Asahina teased, crossing her arms.

Kirigiri forced herself to focus back on the reports, but the truth was that Asahina was right. She couldn't help but glance back at Makoto, who was now laughing at something Shiro had said, his genuine smile lighting up the room. The sight both warmed her heart and twisted it with frustration. Why couldn't she be as carefree and charming as Shiro?

As if sensing her gaze, Makoto turned and met her eyes, a warm smile spreading across his face. "Hey, Kirigiri-san! Want to join us?"

Kirigiri's breath caught in her throat. The way he looked at her—so open and inviting—made her want to scream. But before she could respond, Shiro interjected, her voice laced with sweetness. "Oh, Kirigiri-san, I was just telling Makoto about the upcoming mission. Maybe he should come with me instead!"

Kirigiri felt the jealousy flare anew, hot and unyielding. "That won't be necessary. He has his responsibilities here."

Makoto looked between the two women, confusion etched on his face. "Uh, I can handle it..."

"Of course you can," Kirigiri interjected, her tone sharper than intended. "But it's important for us to stay focused. We can't let personal distractions affect our work."

Asahina, sensing the rising tension, stepped in with a laugh. "Come on, Kyoko-chan! You're acting like a protective girlfriend or something!"

The comment hung in the air, and Kirigiri felt her cheeks flush again. "That's not—"

"Right?" Asahina pressed, a teasing glint in her eyes. "You totally have feelings for him! Just admit it!"

"I don't—" Kirigiri began but faltered, her mind racing. She was aware of her feelings for Makoto but hadn't allowed herself to confront them fully. What if she opened her heart only to face rejection? Trust had always been a difficult hurdle for her.

Before she could formulate a response, another agent approached, eyeing the three of them with amusement. "What's this? Are we having a gossip session about the Ultimate Hope? You all seem awfully invested in his love life."

Kirigiri felt her frustration simmering beneath the surface. "It's not gossip," she snapped, but her tone lacked conviction.

Asahina stepped closer, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Kyoko-chan, you really should just tell him how you feel! I mean, look at him! He's got girls swooning left and right! You don't want to lose your chance!"

The thought made Kirigiri's heart race, but she shook her head, fighting against the tide of anxiety. "It's not that simple. There are... complications."

"Complications?" Asahina echoed, nudging her playfully. "What complications? You're both adults. Just go for it!"

Kirigiri turned her gaze back to Makoto, who was now helping Shiro with a report, his kindness evident in the way he interacted with her. It was infuriating how effortlessly charming he was, and the way he could make anyone feel special. Yet, despite the jealousy, she couldn't help but admire him.

"I just... I can't," she finally admitted, her voice softer. "What if he doesn't feel the same way? What if I push him away?"

Asahina's expression softened. "But what if he does? You won't know unless you try. You're both so close. Just tell him how you feel."

The thought swirled in Kirigiri's mind, but doubt lingered like a shadow. Just then, Makoto looked over again, his smile bright and inviting. The sincerity in his eyes made her heart ache, and she felt a fierce determination rise within her.

Maybe it was time to confront her feelings, no matter how terrifying that might be.

"I... I'll think about it," Kirigiri replied finally, her voice firm. "But right now, I need to focus on the mission."

As she turned back to her reports, Asahina's teasing voice followed her. "Just don't wait too long, or Shiro might swoop in!"

Kirigiri shot a glare over her shoulder but couldn't help the small smile that tugged at her lips. Perhaps it was time to step out of the shadows of jealousy and uncertainty and embrace the hope she had always believed in.

At that moment, amidst the chaos of the Future Foundation Headquarters, Kirigiri made a silent promise to herself: she would find a way to tell Makoto how she felt, even if it meant risking everything.
