Note: Hideo, is a character that I just invented for this story and he is not an official danganronpa character.

The bustling halls of Future Foundation Headquarters, where every agent is busy with their responsibilities, yet the atmosphere feels charged with unspoken tensions.

Kirigiri walked through the Future Foundation Headquarters, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts. After her earlier conversation with Asahina, she was determined to confront her feelings for Makoto, but the task felt monumental. She had practiced her words in her head countless times, but whenever she thought of actually voicing them, anxiety clawed at her throat.

As she turned a corner, she was met by a tall figure—one she recognized as Hideo, a new branch head who had joined the Future Foundation recently. He was charismatic and confident, a stark contrast to her cool, composed demeanor. His presence had a way of drawing attention, and today, he was particularly animated as he approached her.

"Kirigiri-san! Just the person I was hoping to see!" he called out, his tone laced with enthusiasm. "I was wondering if you could help me with some analysis on the latest case reports. I could really use your insight."

Kirigiri felt her stomach twist. "I'm busy," she replied curtly, trying to maintain her distance.

Hideo's smile didn't falter; if anything, it broadened. "Busy can wait. We both know you're the best at this. Plus, it would be a good opportunity for us to work together—just the two of us."

She forced herself to keep her expression neutral, though irritation simmered just beneath the surface. "I prefer to work alone," she stated, her voice steady but cold.

"Come on, don't be like that! We can achieve so much together," Hideo persisted, stepping closer. "I hear you're quite the mystery solver. Wouldn't it be more fun to solve it together?"

Kirigiri felt trapped. Hideo was relentless, and the more he pressed, the more anxious she became. She glanced around, hoping for an escape, but the bustling agents seemed oblivious to her discomfort.

"Excuse me, Kirigiri-san?." The sudden interruption was like a breath of fresh air, and Kirigiri's heart lifted as she saw Makoto approaching, his smile warm and reassuring. "Is everything alright?"

Kirigiri felt a rush of relief wash over her, though she noticed the way Hideo's expression shifted, a hint of annoyance flickering in his eyes. "Just discussing some reports," she replied, her tone easing as she turned to face Makoto.

"Is that right? Because it looks more like he is trying to convince you to join him for some extracurricular activities," Makoto remarked, his brow furrowing slightly as he regarded Hideo.

Hideo chuckled, attempting to brush it off. "Just trying to get to know the team better. No harm in that, right?"

Makoto's demeanor shifted as he took a step closer to Kirigiri, his expression protective. "If Kirigiri-san doesn't want to join you, then she shouldn't have to. We all have our work to focus on."

The tension in the air crackled, and Kirigiri couldn't help but admire Makoto's unwavering support. "Thank you, Naegi-kun," she said softly, her voice steadying.

Hideo raised an eyebrow, clearly annoyed by the interruption. "Relax, boy. I was just trying to be friendly. Kirigiri-san can choose for herself."

"Sure, but maybe you should take a hint when someone isn't interested," Makoto replied, his voice firm but still carrying that gentle undertone that made Kirigiri's heart swell.

Hideo's smile faltered for a moment before he regained his composure. "Alright, I get it. I won't bother you anymore, Kirigiri-san. But remember, I'm always here if you change your mind." With that, he turned and walked away, leaving a palpable tension in his wake.

Kirigiri exhaled, relief flooding through her. "I appreciate you stepping in like that, Naegi-kun."

"Of course," he said, his smile returning, bright and genuine. "You shouldn't have to deal with that kind of pressure. I know how dedicated you are to your work, and it's important to stay focused."

For a moment, their eyes met, and Kirigiri felt a rush of gratitude and something deeper stirring within her. She knew she needed to talk to him, to finally express what had been brewing in her heart. But as quickly as the thought surfaced, doubt crept in. "I really am busy," she managed to say, forcing herself to look away.

Makoto seemed to pick up on her hesitance. "You don't have to push me away, Kirigiri-san. I'm here for you, no matter what."

She nodded, appreciating his unwavering support. Yet, the weight of her unvoiced feelings felt heavier than ever.

"Let's focus on the mission," she suggested, hoping to divert the conversation.

"Yeah, let's," Makoto agreed, his tone cheerful as he walked alongside her, ready to tackle whatever challenges lay ahead.

But as they made their way back to the office, Kirigiri couldn't shake the feeling of urgency that had settled in her heart. She needed to find a way to bridge the gap between them, to move past the shadows of jealousy and uncertainty, and embrace the hope that Makoto represented.

Maybe it was time to take a step forward—if only she could find the courage to do so.
