Once everyone was finished eating they were moved outside to the courtyard to be told the rules. By me. The only alright part about that was that it gave Rave a chance to see that girl. And us a chance to see Zee Nope. Not if she didn't start any more fights.

"Welcome everyone, to my competition. I shall tell you the rules now," I said, looking down at my notecard before sighing. I knew it by heart already.

Why are you talking like that

Like what

Like you're important or something

I'm the king

So what, shakespeare?

"I've invited 5000 people into my home and all of you will look around the palace for keys. Once you have a key, look for the lock. It isn't just limited to doors, though. If you don't find your lock, you're disqualified. But be warned, while some of these doors have fortunes and great gifts, many doors have things you'll hate or will lead to your death," I said.

In fact, I was going into one of the rooms as a deadly fate. I was a people eating dragon. Not actually. That was the key for my thing. If the person was able to stand in front of the dragon without fear, they would be allowed to pass and take my hand in marriage. If they ran away, I ate them. If they stood there and screamed, I ate them.

Actually I'll eat them.

Shut up, dragon.

"Anyways, there are only 2000 keys. And 1000 locks. There really are no rules except you can't steal something when somebody's opened a door, but they can give it to you. So yeah you can steal keys from people but no killing," I said blankly.

People started whispering around there. Friends took steps away from each other.
I found Zee and the other girl and they had their hands together in a tight grip.

No fair

Zip it, dragon.

"Let the games begin.”
