Luna's breath hitched, her cheeks flushing a deep crimson at his audacity. Shock coursed through her, leaving her momentarily speechless, her mind swirl ing too much to play along. "Good night, Alex," she replied, inserting the key into the door of her room with an air of finality. "How can it be someone as silly as you ?" she mumble under her breathe before turning the door knob.
As she slipped inside, a tug of something unnameable pulled at Alex's chest, seeing her retreat into herself. He watched her go, confusion washing over him, the weight of her silence settling heavily in the pit of his stomach. He reminded himself that this was for the best; he didn't need to get entangled in her problems. He had his own mission to focus on.
Alex also followed and tapped his key in the room . He went for shower before preparing for bed. He changed into a comfortable shirt, but his senses were heightened, every sound amplified in the stillness of the night. He couldn't shake the unease about the what the kid was saying to luna . Was she okay on the other side of the wall? Had she managed to sleep? Just then, a soft knock on the door startled him. His brows furrowed in confusion as he walked toward it, opening the door .Meanwhile , Inside the room, Luna's thoughts began to swirl, faster and faster, a relentless storm she couldn't escape. The boy's words echoed in her mind—don't trust anyone, everyone betrayed you. She gripped her head, the pressure building, her temples throbbing in sync with her heartbeat.
Why did she do this? Why had she abandoned everything, all the power she once wielded, for this fragile existence? For a change -She had an answer to this question but what lead her to this decision is what she was curious about . She tried to piece it together, but her mind was slipping, unraveling.
Her breath quickened, the panic clawing at her, threatening to swallow her whole. The room felt too small, the walls closing in, shadows dancing like ghosts of her past. She needed to stop it, to push it all away, to escape the relentless assault of her own mind. She couldn't trust anyone—but that didn't matter right now.
She had to distract herself.
One name surfaced in her thoughts, cutting through the chaos like a lifeline: Alex.
Her breath hitched, and she forced herself to stand, every part of her screaming to stay hidden, to bury her thoughts deeper. But Alex—his presence was the only thing that made sense in this storm, the only constant in a world that seemed to be spiraling out of control.
Without thinking, she left her room and knocked on his door, her hand trembling slightly as she waited for him to open. She wasn't sure what she was seeking—comfort, distraction, maybe even the warmth of his presence to drown out the cold fear gnawing at her insides. But she knew she couldn't stay alone with her thoughts any longer.
When the door opened, Alex stood there, his expression shifting from confusion to concern in an instant. "Luna? What's wrong?"
"Help me," she said, her voice trembling with urgency.
"What happened?" he asked, stepping outside and scanning the area as if someone might be lurking nearby. He tightened his grip on her shoulder, ready to protect her at a moment's notice.
"Distract me—my brain is killing me," she replied, her eyes pleading in a way that sent a shiver down his spine. There was something in her gaze he couldn't quite comprehend, but it drew him in, an invisible force pulling them closer together.
Before he could react, she pushed him into his room, shoving him against the wall, her lips crashing onto his in a sudden, fervent kiss. The moment stunned him, his eyes widening in surprise. Before he could process what was happening, she kissed him softly. It was a fleeting brush of lips, but as she pulled back, she felt the tension in the air—the way his body stiffened, the shock written all over his face.
Her heart sank, a wave of regret washing over her. She searched his eyes, hoping to see something—anything—but was met with a mixture of confusion and disbelief. The moment stretched, heavy with unsaid words and unacknowledged feelings.
But then, in a flash where the tension reached its breaking point, Alex's hand shot forward, grabbing her by the throat. His grip was firm but not cruel—no intent to harm. Instead, he pulled her closer, and before Luna could fully register what was happening, his lips crashed onto hers. His other hand grabbed her hair pulling her more closer . His body pressing hard on hers .
For a brief moment, Luna forgot whose air she was breathing, the world outside disappearing into a haze. The intensity of his touch, the raw connection between them, left her breathless.
The kiss was deep and forceful, igniting a fire within her that she hadn't expected. It seared through every fiber of her being, overwhelming her senses. In that stolen breath, everything else faded—the confusion, the fear, the boy's ominous warning. It was just them, caught in a whirlwind of emotion, their previous boundaries obliterated.
Their lips moved against each other with a mixture of urgency and tenderness, a dance of longing and need. Alex's hands found their way to Luna's waist, pulling her closer, as if he were trying to fuse their bodies into one. The warmth of her pressed against him ignited a fire in his chest, an insatiable desire that made his heart race.
As their kiss deepened, Alex's tongue slipped into her mouth, tentatively exploring the sweet warmth he had craved for so long. The contact sent a shockwave through him, a rush of sensations that was both exhilarating and terrifying. But just as quickly, he pulled back, biting her bottom lip softly as he broke the kiss.
Luna looked at him, her eyes searching his, at that moment she could see the storm in Alex's eyes—something raw and unguarded, yet beneath it, regrets .
He regretted it . It was clear in the way his brow furrowed and the way he momentarily closed his eyes as if he were trying to block out the reality of what had just happened.
Without a word, Luna turned to leave, her heart pounding with confusion. But before she could take more than a step, Alex's hand wrapped around hers, holding her in place.
"I can promise you nothing," he said, his voice low and earnest. "I can give you nothing. I can't love you, Luna. Yet... can I ask you to stay? Just stay—sleep with me."
Her breath caught in her throat as she turned to look at him, disbelief flashing across her features. "Alex..."
"I promise I will do nothing but hold you," he continued, his eyes pleading, an intensity in his gaze that made her heart ache. "My wolf is in a mess, and I can't help but worry about you if you're not near me."
After a long moment of silence, Luna felt the weight of his words settle around them. She could see the sincerity in his eyes, and though a part of her was terrified, another part craved the comfort he was offering. With a nod, she finally agreed, a quiet whisper of a promise hanging in the air between them.
They moved toward the bed together, the tension still palpable but tempered by a fragile sense of understanding. Luna slipped under the covers first, the fabric cool against her skin. She turned her back to him, staring at the wall, feeling the whirlwind of emotions swirling within her. The silence felt heavy, stretching out into what felt like eternity.
A few moments passed before Alex followed her, settling into the bed beside her. He lay still for a heartbeat, allowing the quiet to envelop them. But then, unable to resist any longer, he turned toward her back, snaking his arms around her waist. The warmth of his body enveloped her, and she felt his breath against her neck, a soft exhale that sent shivers down her spine.
"Luna," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper, as he pulled her closer.
