she could find her way back to herself with Henry's help

The weight of the previous night still clung to Emily as she paced around her living room. Henry had stayed until he was sure she was okay, but now, alone in the quiet of the morning, a burning question remained in her mind—Trisha. Her best friend, the one she should have been able to trust above all else, had known about Katherine and Ryan. She had to. And yet, she said nothing. Emily couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal.

Determined, she grabbed her car keys and headed toward Trisha's house, her stomach twisting with a mix of anger and dread. When she arrived, the house looked as still and quiet as it had been the night before, but Emily wasn't going to leave until she had answers.

She knocked on the door, her knuckles rapping against the wood more harshly than she intended. The sound echoed in the stillness of the early morning.

After what felt like an eternity, the door creaked open, and there stood Trisha, her face pale with guilt. Her eyes widened when she saw Emily, but she said nothing, just held the door halfway open, as if she wasn't sure whether to let her in or not.

"Can I come in?" Emily's voice was cold, emotion barely contained. She stepped forward before Trisha could answer, pushing past her and into the living room.

"Emily, wait," Trisha started, but Emily turned to face her, fire in her eyes.

"You knew." Emily's words cut through the air, sharp and accusing. "You knew about Ryan and Katherine this whole time, didn't you?"

Trisha froze, her eyes darting away from Emily's. "It's not that simple—"

"Not that simple?" Emily's voice wavered between anger and disbelief

"Not that simple?" Emily's voice wavered between anger and disbelief. "How long have you known, Trish? Days? Weeks? Months?"

Trisha bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes. "I didn't know how to tell you. I didn't want to hurt you—"

"Hurt me?" Emily's voice cracked. "You think lying to me, hiding the truth, wasn't going to hurt me? I trusted you, Trisha! You were my best friend, and you kept this from me!"

Trisha's shoulders slumped, the weight of her guilt almost visible in the way she carried herself. "I thought I was protecting you. When I found out... I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to be the one to destroy you, Emily."

"Destroy me?" Emily scoffed, her chest heaving with the force of her emotions. "You let me walk around like an idiot, thinking everything was fine, while you knew he was seeing Katherine behind my back? You let me keep loving him while he was lying to my face!"

"I didn't want you to hate me," Trisha whispered, her voice barely audible now. "I didn't want to lose you."

"Well, guess what, Trisha? You lost me anyway!" Emily's voice rose, her heart pounding in her chest as the hurt poured out. "I don't know who you are anymore."
