SUN'S POV
9:45pm. Closing time.
Wearily, I sighed as the last child left the daycare. I slumped down, sitting cross-legged on the floor. It's been a while since Moon last came out. Perhaps I should turn the lights off-..
No! What am I thinking? Last time he was in control, Moon-
"Hey, Sunny idiot." His voice taunted me inside my head.
"That's not nice, Moony." I responded, crossing my arms angrily.
"No one gives a shit. When can I be let out?" Moon asked. I sighed.
"Language, also, not today." I told him, heading over to a small, pastel-pink table with empty paper and I picked up an orange crayon and began doodling random stuff.
"I asked when, not if it was today." He groaned and I ignored him as I began drawing a few stick men with me next to them. It was a nice drawing, I thought, but Moon was quick to criticise. "That looks horrible. Do you even know how to draw?"
"That... is not nice... and you.. know it." I growled, growing eventually irritated by his teasing voice always saying things. I subconsciously scrunched up the paper and I stared down into my hand.
"I don't care if it isn't nice, do you think I'm nice, sweet little Sun?" He yawned and I stood up, my rays retracting slightly.
"It shows, you don't care about anyone but yourself." I mumbled through gritted teeth, before taking a deep breath and calming down. As he ranted on about whatnot, I started to clean up, stacking the multicoloured barrels on top of each other, to which Moon commented how the children would always knock them over. I didn't respond, and cleared away the drawing table, neatly setting down the cup of crayons back down.
After several minutes, the daycare was spotless and I was left with nothing to do. I could always explore the Pizza Plex? I'm not sure about that idea. Plus, I never leave the daycare.
There were many things I could do. None of them I feel like doing.
Then I was left with the only remaining (and least desirable) option; chatting to Moon. I felt like he despised me though, so it would just make for an awkward conversation. I didn't dislike Moon, nor did I hate him. In fact, to a point I enjoyed his company. I wish I could say the same for him..
Luckily, he broke the silence first.
"It's so boring here. It's all right for the children - they get to have fun then go home and snuggle up to do what they desire. We're forced to stay here." I was about to comment about what he just said but he added; "Especially when I'm not even allowed to do anything."
"You know just why I don't let you out, Moony." I uttered and he started yelling. Looking back though, I'm not sure why he was yelling.
"OH! Don't tell me it was that ONE day! That ONE DAY I made a MISTAKE. Everyone makes mistakes!" He exclaimed angrily. I had to take another deep breath.
"Yes, but I don't want you to make more mistakes." I whispered.
"YOU CAN'T JUST TELL SOMEONE NOT TO MAKE MISTAKES!" Moon snapped.
I covered my non-existent ears and murmured, "I don't need to listen to you."
"You can't escape reality, dear Sun. Why don't we just talk this out now while we have the chance?" He said. I scrunched up my fists.
"Because you can't have a normal chat without bursting into shouts." I answered him, sighing.
I heard that Moon was about to say something, but I decided to ignore him. I didn't listen to what he was shouting about and frankly, I didn't care. I flew up to the sky stage and entered our room and charged, turning myself off. It was kinda like sleep.
5:30. Half an hour before opening time.
I woke up, checking the time. Oh golly! Only 30 minutes before the kids come! I had to prepare! I left the room and dived into the ball pit. Yes, I may be very bad at using the flying cord, but I'm much better than Moony at diving. We all have our strengths.
I hummed a jolly tune whilst I tidied up the daycare, despite having already cleaned it up the day before. I neatly arranged pencils and crayons on the arts and crafts table.
5 minutes passed. As I fussed over the stray ball pit balls that had somehow found their way into the play structures (that I was much too large to enter!), I heard a loud thump and a man's voice, quiet and gruff. What was happening?
