- the astronomy tower -

Third person's POV:

"You will never be loved, you are a waste of life, Y/n.", sounded the voice of the once most loved man in her life.

"Daddy, please. I didn't do anything.", the whiny sound of a scared little girl answered.

"You didn't do anything?"- scoffing his heavy steps and the cracking wood came nearer and nearer, everything else was muted. The only sound reaching the little girl was heavy breathing from her drunken hero, his big self appeared in the moonlight, shining through the windows of her former safety shelter of a childhood home.

"You let my only son die, it should have been you. You little disgusting shit. I look at you and only see him, it should have been you.", dangerous close to the little girl's face.

He hit her, he hit his daughter, punched her in the stomach, and threw her to the other side of the room, not acknowledging her pleas.

"You should be dead. You should not be allowed to breathe air.", and he left her, left the little girl lying in the darkness of the night, hurt on her childhood room's floor. All alone with the darkest and most powerful people downstairs plotting a plan to take over the world. But the girl never knew what part she played in this, why she had to endure this constant pain. What could she have done in her short life on earth that had her this unworthy of a fatherly love?

It's been a week since the incident had happened and everything was oddly normal for the girl, she had been stared at throughout the days knowing it must have come to everyone's attention that she was the daughter of an Azkaban prisoner who was awaiting the dementor's kiss.

But there wasn't anything new about her situation at school, she'd always been the freakish loner, now that her only friend had changed sides this was normal.

Her mind was clouded most of the time, she had spent every day walking the grounds of Hogwarts in the comfortable presence of rain or fog making her feel less exposed to the world and all the evil it held. She wasn't hiding herself but she was also not eagerly awaiting the presence of that special Professor. They certainly talked but Y/n didn't stay longer in the common room as she used to do in hopes of talking to the woman for a while.

Narcissa sensed Y/n slowly drifting away, but never pushed her, knowing that the girl needed time to process what had happened. It was pretty convenient for the woman, actually. So, she could finally think about the way she felt with the girl. It certainly was not how she should have felt but she did.

Was she about to push it away, living a lie she knew would be better for everyone or would she follow wherever the pull was guiding her towards?

Many questions lay in the stars of this surprisingly warm autumn night which was why the girl found herself sitting on the astronomy tower, wrapped in the hoodie she had still to give back.

Looking in the night sky, sitting in the comfort of the moon she wondered how she found herself in this position. She had promised herself to get better, she promised to go a thousand miles if that was needed to find her peace. But here she was, not alright but not- not alright; she found herself somewhere in between.

The words of the man she thought would protect her for most of her life were still spiralling through her mind,

"You will never be loved, everyone that loves you is playing with you. No one could love someone like you.", she went so long not thinking about it but now it seemed as if it was the only thing that mattered.
