Kidding ^‿^

-

The universe was giving you a sign.

You know it now.

Every morning when you wake up, the sunlight falls on the door to the home theater room, where you kept your mini refrigerator, your mini bar.

It was your sign.

So when your mother woke up to find you with another bottle of whiskey, she was done with the whole day already.

"A drink or two is fine once in a while, chiku," she said as she sat beside you on kitchen island.

Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo played back-to-back in the Marshall bluetooth speaker you've started to carry around the house, like Rolex.

She paused the song before facing you again.

"You can't do it every morning," your mother continued. "Too much of anything is not for good."

"I'm just hoping for a miracle," you brought the glass up to your mouth for the first sip but it was taken away swiftly.

"Okay, you're going to stop moping around the house," she placed the glass on the marble countertop.

"You mopped the floor most of the time with me," you mumbled, resting your head near the bottle.

"We're talking about different things," your mom replied. "You know that."

Sighing, you lifted your head up again to play what you've been listening to for the past one week she's been home.

"That's it," she said to herself. "You're not going to complicate your life and then complain that your life is complicated."

She took your speaker away.

"You're going to tell me what happened so that you don't spend the rest of your life sprawled out on your couch with a bottle like Devdas."

"Devdas left her first," you mumbled again.

"Now who left who here?" She asked as you finally sat up straight.

"We both did," you answered, looking up at the ceiling so that the pool of tears remained unfalling.

"He failed to muster courage to oppose his parents," she told you. "He requests her to forget him, but realizes his mistake."

"It was too late," you dropped your head to face your lap. "I'm a sucker for sad endings anyway."

"No, you do this only two ways," your mother said as she got off the high rise chair. "Either you watch Titanic again, go on like Rose lived a life of freedom and adventure, inspired by Jack."

"Or," you prompted in a dull voice.

"Or you chase after like in Secret Garden," she added. "Wait, Secret Garden would be a different genre."

She thought for a moment before speaking again.

"Or you watch that K-drama again- Wait, what was the name?" She tried recollecting but gave up halfway. "My point is, you do it like he confessed to that guy in the rain. Do you remember the dialogue?"

Something along the lines of 'I tried to hide my feelings but I can't,' and 'so let's go, as far as we can go.'

(A/n: I forgot the title (-。-;)

"I remember," you answered.

"That's it," she smiled as if to say 'it's that simple.' "So tie your shoelaces together, find your person, and ask. Whatever the answer is, you'll move on from there."

Was it really that simple?

"You wouldn't have accepted Koel's proposal if you didn't actually like Shubman even just a tiny bit," your mother went on to say.

For a minute, you stared at her like you just got enlightened.

"Do you know what to do?" She asked and you nodded, jumping down the high rise chair.

Grabbing your phone, you wore your shoes and started making your way towards the front door.

"At least change from your-" She watched you leave before she could complete. -"pajamas."
