Dylan and Paige finally made it to Pewter City. The sun shone brightly over the quiet city, nestled in the northern mountains between Route 2 and Route 3.
The atmosphere was serene, with the sound of rustling leaves and the distant chirping of Pokémon.
Rocky hills surrounded the town, giving it a cozy, secluded feel. The streets were lined with quaint homes and small shops, and the smell of freshly baked goods wafted from a nearby bakery.
"This place is so chill," Paige remarked, taking in the peaceful surroundings. "I love the mountains. It feels like we're in a little hidden gem!"
"Totally! I can't wait to challenge the gym here," Dylan said, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "But first, we should heal up our Pokémon."
They made their way to the Pokémon Center, where Nurse Joy greeted them with her usual warm smile. Her Chansey bounced around happily behind her.
"Welcome to the Pokémon Center! How can I help you today?" Nurse Joy asked.
"We'd like to heal our Pokémon, please," Dylan replied.
"Of course! Just hand them over," she said, taking their Poké Balls and placing them on the healing machine.
While they waited, Dylan leaned over the counter. "Hey, Nurse Joy, can you tell me about the gym leader here?"
Nurse Joy smiled. "Absolutely! The gym leader's name is Brock. He specializes in Rock-type Pokémon, so be prepared for a tough battle if you decide to challenge him."
"Thanks for the heads-up!" Dylan replied, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves.
Paige, intrigued, pulled out her pink Pokédex and pointed it at Chansey. "Let's see what it says about this little cutie!"
"Chansey, the Egg Pokémon," the Pokédex chimed. "It is said to deliver happiness. It carries around a egg-shaped object that is filled with nutritious eggs. Chansey is known for its caring nature and is often seen in hospitals."
"Aww, that's adorable! You're like a little nurse!" Paige giggled.
Nurse Joy chuckled, adjusting the ribbon in her hair. "Chansey loves helping others. It's what she does best!"
As the healing machine beeped, Nurse Joy handed them back their Poké Balls. "All set! Good luck with your gym challenge!"
"Thanks, Nurse Joy!" Dylan said, pocketing his Poké Balls with a grin.
As Dylan and Paige stepped out of the Pokémon Center, the warm sun enveloped them. Dylan's excitement quickly turned to concern.
"I've been thinking about my strategy for the gym battle," he said, furrowing his brow. "But I just realized—I don't have any Pokémon that are effective against Rock-type Pokémon."
Paige put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Hey, don't stress about it! You can still win. Trust in your Pokémon and the bond you share with them. That's what matters most."
Dylan nodded, feeling a little more confident. "You're right. I can't let type disadvantages get in my head." He then called out his Pokémon. "Come on out, guys!"
Charmander, Pidgeotto, and Pikachu appeared, each looking ready for action. Dylan crouched down to meet their gaze. "Are you all ready for this gym battle? We might be at a disadvantage, but I believe in you!"
Charmander flicked its tail, Pidgeotto flapped its wings enthusiastically, and Pikachu bounced on its feet, all shaking their heads confidently in agreement.
"See? They're ready!" Paige cheered. "Now, let's show Brock what you've got!"
With his doubts set aside and determination filling him, Dylan grinned. "Alright, let's head to the Pewter City Gym!"
