As the door to Room Sixty-One creaked open, a thick, oppressive darkness greeted the group, even denser than what they had already faced. Brian flicked his flashlight forward, but the beam was weaker now, the light struggling to cut through the shadows.

"This thing's about to go."

Brian muttered, shaking the flashlight as if it would miraculously brighten... But it didn't. A massive metal gate loomed ahead, blocking their path to Door Sixty-Two. Its rusted bars gleamed faintly in the dying light. To their left and right, two staircases descended into what looked like a deep cellar, shrouded in pitch-black darkness. Ryan squinted through the shadows.

"Man... Of course there's a cellar, dudes."

Aaron's gaze shifted uneasily, his instincts screaming that Screech was near. He glanced around, half-expecting another attack, but the room was silent. Too silent.Charlotte pulled her jacket tighter around her shoulders, her voice shaky.

"We have to find something to open that gate... There's no other way."

Lando nodded, his fingers resting on the hilt of his knife, eyes constantly darting around for any sign of movement.

"Then, let's get this over with."

The group cautiously made their way down the stairs into the cellar. Brian's flashlight flickered again, the light sputtering in and out, casting erratic shadows across the stone walls. Every step felt like a step deeper into the unknown, the air growing colder and heavier.

Pssst.

Everyone froze, their eyes widening as they huddled closer together. Billy flicked his lighter, the small flame giving off a dim glow that barely illuminated the space around them. Brian aimed his flickering flashlight into the dark corners, its light fading faster by the second.

"Where is it!?"

He urged, panic seeping into his voice. AJ spun around and caught Screech about to jump at him, scaring the creature away.

"Got the little shit stain!"

The group moved quicker, desperate to find something to get that gate out of the way. Lando scanned the floor with Billy, checking overturned crates and debris, but everything was soaked in darkness. The cellar was a maze of forgotten objects, half-rotten barrels, and broken furniture, but no sign of any tool that could help. Charlotte caught sight of Screech again, but the creature bit her hand.

"AGH!"

Screech jumped back into the darkness, blood dripping from its massive teeth. Aaron accidentally rammed into a stone wall while searching the darkness, his right ear ringing.

"Urgh..."

Aaron stood up and continued searching for anything.

"Come on, come on."

He muttered, his hands trembling as he felt along the wall. And then his fingers brushed against something cold-metal. His heart skipped a beat.

"I've got it!"

Aaron shouted, gripping a lever hidden behind an old wooden crate. With a swift pull, the gate upstairs groaned and creaked, the ancient mechanism unlocking. But before they could celebrate, Brian's flashlight flickered once more and then...It went dark.

"No, no, no! Dammit!"

Brian cursed, shaking the now-useless flashlight. He glanced toward Billy, who was now the only one with light. The tiny flame of his lighter flickered warmly in the cold air. Matt shoved a barrel out of the way and uncovered another stone hall.
