Wednesday. The wackiest day of the week. The day where more things went bad than good, all Wednesdays except this one. It was suspicious how eerily normal this day was. The sunshine that casts over the city so warmly is almost offensive with how pleasant it is. And for once, you're greeted with a welcoming smile at the door. Very Strange. Maybe it was just a rare miracle—one of those days where everything aligned in your favour. With your nerves settled you finally relax, walking up to the reception to greet your two friends.

Well, one as Annalise isn't perched next to him and pestering him as usual.

"Morning," you say with a raised eyebrow, eyes scanning between the blond and the empty seat. "Where's Anna?" you ask, peering your head over the counter to catch a glance at what Darios was working on so blank, with not even a glint in his eyes. Maybe he's not having a lucky Wednesday.

He shrugs in response, "Dunno. I haven't seen her all day, and she hasn't responded to my texts."

"Did you guys have an argument?" you ask slowly standing up straight.

"Not that I know of, but what do I know." he doesn't take his eyes off the screen and his tone seems to be carrying an underlying venom in it. Careful with your last question, as you sense his irritation you ask, "When did she start this blunt behaviour with you?"

"You tell me." he finally looks at you, evident confusion etched on his face, "You do something nice for the girl and things are peachy and all, the next day she ices you out." You sit with these facts for a minute, and none of them sound like possible Annalise behaviours.

"I wouldn't stress too much, she'll come around," you say, for now, fingers tapping against the reception desk. "I'm gonna be in my office, call me if something happens."

"Will do." he says flatly, resuming his work.

Walking towards the elevator you notice a sign on the doors that says, 'Under maintenance. Will be operating after lunch.' How inconvenient. It's become a habit for you to always use the lift, besides you only go from top floor to bottom, but now, you have to round the echoey back stairs all the way to the tippy top.
