~3.Falling for him (literally)

𝓥𝓘𝓒𝓣𝓞𝓡𝓘𝓐 𝓟𝓞𝓥:
It was a couple days after the carriage accident and I was laying in bed reading a book about 'cataract surgery' until I heard a knock on the door, the knock had a specific pattern 1 knock then 2 then 1; although I didn't think anything of it.

As I got up to answer it my leg ached and I groaned in pain, the surgery had gone well but it still hurt.

Trying to push the pain I answered the door, it was the one and only Jack Dawkins.

He cleared his through before speaking, "Lady Victoria.. How's your leg?"
He said, there was a hint of empathy in his tone.

"well I've been better," I say trying not to lean on my injured leg. "Come in," I say walking deeper into the manor. I turn around to face Jack but slip on my injured leg and begin to fall, I squint my eyes but I don't feel the floor I open my eyes and see a handsom face infront of me,it was Jack, he had caught me and was staring right at me not breaking eye contact for a second he says "looks like you fell for me M'lady."

"Yes of course I mean who wouldn't with that dashing face of yours." I say sarcastically rollin my eyes, trying not to blush.

Jack slowly begins to lean in and with instinct I do to.

"Erm.. Sorry to interrupt whatever is going on here but we need Victoria for the wedding decorations." Belle grinned nervously.

We both lingered in our position for a split second longer before pulling away an dusting ourselves off.

"Nothing is going on!" I say a little to quickly.

Jack raised his eyebrows glancing at me before turning away, all I could think about was that I nearly kissed Jack Dawkins..

my Jack Dawkins.

I quickly snapped back to reality and realised I was getting married to Sneed and we had to look an decorations. I soon left with Belle but before the door shut I took a quick sneak peak at Jack only to realize he was looking at me first with a sly-half smile.

"So, we'll have lillies and red  decorations." Sneed said.

"Yeah" I said gloomily thinking about Jack and our nearly kiss.

"What's wrong dear?" my mother says bowing down a little to look me in my eye.

"Just thinking about the wedding I'm so excited!" I say doing a completely fake smile.

"Well you are marrying Dr Sneed" she grins but her facial expressions don't match mine, Belle glances over and grabs my arm and swiftly takes me away from the crowd.

"Don't talk, listen do you like Jack Dawkins and don't lie to me because once you marry Dr Sneed you're married forever, unless you have an affair but that's not the point."

"Well, yes who wouldn't, he's got mesmerizing eyes, gorgeous hair and his teasing comments." I say, " but please don't tell Dr Sneed."

"No need, miss Victoria." Sneed says darkly as he just walked in, " and since we are to be married call me by my first name; Rainsford."

I glare at him gloomily.

"It's not like you want to marry me anyway," I say. He looks sheepish, " wait.. You do?"

"Oh. My. God." Belle exclaims. "You actually want to marry her. You actually like her.." she looks disgusted.

"Well.. I-I never said that." he replies.
"You didn't deny it either." she says.

"I need to go." I declare walking out the room leaving Sneed and Belle to argue.

While I'm thinking where to go, one place comes to mind, a place where someone will listen to me, a place where I might find Jack Dawkins..

I wander around the manor's ground taking in my surroundings until I hear a familiar footstep that makes me freeze.
Turning around my head is filled with Disappointment as my eyes meet Sneeds.

"My soon to be wife what happen in there?" he asked annoyance in his tone.

"nothing that concerns you." I say darkly.

"Well you concern me if you like a mere commoner." he matches my tone.

Just when I think he'd do something horrible to me a reassuring voice fills my ears.

"Lady Victoria, Dr Sneed. Pleasure to see you." he says brightly, then notices my worried face and raises his eyebrow.

I give him a 'don't say anything' look and reply," pleasure to see you to Dr Dawkins."
