I was meant to get drinks with Leah, but she canceled because of her sister falling down the stairs or something. I could tell it was a lie, but hey more free time for me. I close my locker shut after putting away these heavy ass textbooks, I step back and pick up my lighter bag now.

I hear whispers and gasps from all over the hallway, I look to the side and my eyes widen once I see Noah. His face was heavily bruised. Spreading purple with yellow blotches is only the surface wound, his nose is absolutely fucked up. His eyes stared into mine, and when I thought he was going to do something to me, he simply walked past.

Odd but okay?

Deep down, my guts told me that August had something to do with this, after what I told him last night. I walk away from my locker and rush towards my car. Once I'm in my car, I reverse out and start to drive back to the apartment.

I park my car and get out, tripping on my feet on the way in.

"Ellie, are you okay?" The receptionist asks me.

"I'm good!" I yell rushing up the stars.

Once I do, I stand in front of his door. I knock frantically, waiting for him to open the door. "August! I know you're in there! Aug!" My fists bangs against the door until it opens, and August lean on his door frame as he wraps his hand with a black bandage.

"What the fuck did you just call me?"

"It's a nickname I came up with-anyways, that wasn't your fight to take!" I was angry, probably because no one has had my back before. I'm used to fighting my battles alone. He looks at me like I'm some lost tourist as he continues to tighten his bandage.

"It wasn't your fight to take in the first place." He says,

His teeth grip one side of the bandage as he rips it off, directly looking at me. Butterflies swarm my stomach.

"Now did you come to just say that?"

"You could've gotten hurt dumbass! He would've hurt you and your stubborn ass would blame me for the rest of my life!" I guess I was making pointless excuses so I could see him more often, talk to him, hear his voice and imagine his lips on m- That's enough Ellie. This man is slowly taking over my body, and he doesn't even know it.....

"No one hurts me Elena, I do the hurting." I roll my eyes.

"Thank you, Aug" I mumble. This time he rolls his eyes and I step away from his door as I turn to unlock mine. I pick out the wrong key, looking back to see him staring at me.

"Struggling?" He asks with a smirk.

"No, shut up." I look for the right key, but it isn't there. I was sure I attached it to my car keys, but then I realize it must've fallen out my bag when taking out my textbooks.

Oh-fuck!

I suck in my bottom lip and turn around slowly to face August, he raises a brow of amusement. "So uh.. So it-seems that my key is gone?"

"Oh no, what a shame." He says sarcastically and slams his door closed. This fucker. If I had better hearing, I'd guess he's probably laughing right now.

I text Claire, asking for a spare key and wait for her reply.

Hours pass by, and my body slumps down my door. I look in my bag and take out a bouncy ball. Convenient. I begin to throw it against the floor, allowing it to bounce on the wall and then back to me.

I hear a ping from my phone and check it. Claire replies:

Claire: Sorry dear! I'm in Seattle right now! There isn't anything I can do about it until I'm back. Be safe!
