There was a loud thud.
A thud so powerful, it made the walls of his own apartment, shake in terror. Jake jumped out of his sweet slumber, his eyes scanning the whole room to catch a glimpse of the thief that had broken in- possibly. "What the actual fuck?", he gasped, his eyes wandering from one corner of the room to the other. "Has someone potentially broken through the security?", he pondered over the question that shuffled through his drowsy head.
They say, when you are sleeping, your body is either sub-consciously active or completely wasted and for his case, we shall plead the latter.
The unopened cardboard boxes snickered at him, leaving a distaste in his mouth. It was going to be a tough day ahead for him- granted, it was about to be his first day at his first job which solely meant he had to appear his best but his neighbour seemed to have sabotaging plans which he profusely disagreed to be a part of. "Gosh, it's my first night here!", he yelled, his agony filled voice channeling through the unfurnished apartment.
Grunting in pure agitation, he turned around to sight his alarm clock. "3:26, in the morning. Awesome.", his bored tone trailed off as his face melted away in his favourite pillow. It was unbelievable that it was his first time and that is how he was getting treated- safe to say, like a non-existing nuisance.
Being the newbie who was required to navigate through the serene yet sometimes, creepily quiet streets of Seoul, he believed that at least, his apartment would find him peace and solace.
Oh, negative.
Another loud pounding was heard.
"It's coming from the house, next door.", he realised. "I just wanna bloody sleep!", he shouted, the pounding abruptly halting. "Finally!", though his relief did not last for long when he heard a loud grunt...followed by a feminine moan. His eyes grew the size of lemons at the comprehension.
"Are they seriously fucking at this hour?", he gasped. His right hand clasped his forehead, hiding his flushed face.
Now, how the fuck was he supposed to intervene?
He was whole-heartedly an introvert and the mere image of what could potentially be happening caused him to turn as red as a tomato. More noises came in, ringing continuous bells- of the videos he had liked to watch online, the only difference being that a female was involved while he was used to two males.
"Should I just show up?", he contemplated, his body shivering at the thought. How embarrassing would it be for both him and the people who he wanted to complain to which just further disheveled his building up courage.
"Nah. I've gotta do it. What if they are seriously addicted and do this everyday? I can't bear it.", he cajoled his wavering conscience. He threw his blanket aside, creeping off from his soft bed which he absolutely adored the most. Exiting his room, he found himself in his dull looking lobby.
"Man, I really need to start unpacking.", he scolded himself. After literally gulping down a jug of water, he made it through the encaging walls of his sweet, sun facing home- something that would be a paradise for an introvert like him.
Peaceful.
Quiet.
Secluded.
He was told that there wasn't a single soul on the floor that he lived on, given that it was claimed to be haunted by some child but, he gave no two fucks about it. Being in the vicinity of a ghost was much better than being crowded by some unknown faces that he would never have courage to talk to. At least, the ghost was invisible.
He crept out of his safe place, entering the empty and peculiarly nerve-wrecking hallway. He believed that if he had to scream, it would echo till the ground floor because of how uninhabited the building was.
He fixed the loose crop T he was wearing that reached just above his navel before softly knocking on his neighbour's door.
No response.
Unresponsive people were some beings inclusive in the list of things that he hated. He was obliged to make another knock- a pound to be precise. "Excuse me!", he yelled, knocking yet again. Just when he was about to make a final blow, the door opened, causing his hand to halt midway. The empty hollowness of the peering dark room, sent a wave of shiver down his spine but he was too busy to aid to it.
His only focus was on the six buns in front of him, served on a plate of muscle and fair skin. "What?", a sudden interrogation brought him back from his never ending trance. Tearing apart from the alluring view, though reluctantly, he looked up to meet the grey eyes he could solemnly get lost in- icy cold with nothing but the focused retinas darted towards his short stature as the owner peered over him.
"Um hi-", he managed to speak.
"Lame.", he heard someone speak inside him. It was the devil. "Hey, ssh! He's making a move.", another voice was heard before he shook his head to drop back to reality.
"I'm Jake and your new neighbour.", he had expected a response but he received nothing but pure blankness and silence. "Way to be polite.", the shorter thought to himself, his eyes wavering from the other male's face to his bare torso. He couldn't help but think how perfectly the unbuttoned white shirt was outlining the fact that the guy was a gym dude- for sure.
"You are being very loud, my apologies.", Jake addressed in a polite manner, not forgetting to shoot an apologetic look. "And, how is that my problem?", Jake looked as if lightening had struck him. "Hey man, I just wanna sleep and would appreciate if you could tone it down.", the blonde guy added.
"I'll try.", saying which, the door was slammed shut on the poor boy's face.
"What a bloody asshole."
