The morning sun filtered softly through the windows, casting a warm glow on the room's white curtains. Inside, the omega sat in front of his mirror, carefully applying a bit of makeup. Taehyung never cared to look beautiful for others, especially the alphas who often eyed him. But as the future Luna of his pack, it was an expectation, a role he had to fulfill.

"How can this be happening?" Jimin, his best friend, asked from the doorway. His orange hair caught the light, and his plump lips curled into a frown. He sat beside Taehyung, his worry matching Taehyung's own heavy heart.

"I don't know," Taehyung replied quietly, his voice weighed down by the news. "The Jeon pack... they were attacked last night. Rogues, when the whole pack was asleep. No one expected it."

Jimin's expression darkened. "We should go check on them," he suggested, his voice low but firm.

Taehyung nodded, already grabbing his wallet as they both headed out of the room, making their way downstairs to where some of the pack members had gathered.

"Taehyung," Bogum, one of the senior alphas of the pack, greeted him first, his gaze lingering a little too long on Taehyung's face. Taehyung had grown used to it, but he didn't return the feeling. Bogum wasn't his mate, and in his heart, he knew he could never force a connection that wasn't there.

"Hello," Taehyung responded politely, standing behind the couch where his father, Namjoon, sat discussing the situation with the others. He listened quietly, his gut twisted with unease.

"Taehyung," Namjoon's deep voice called, breaking him from his thoughts. "You and some of our men will go to the Jeon pack. See if there are any survivors and bring them here. We can offer them shelter."

Taehyung nodded, feeling a deep sadness settling in his chest. He had never visited the Jeon pack before, but he had heard of their strength. To imagine them destroyed overnight felt unreal. His gut churned with a sense of foreboding, like the events of today would alter his life in ways he couldn't yet grasp.

He and Jimin climbed into the carriage waiting outside, followed by several guards on horseback. Jimin sighed as the carriage began to move. "Those poor people. I can't imagine what they must have gone through."

Taehyung remained silent, staring out the window at the passing landscape. His heart was heavy, not just with the tragedy but with something he couldn't quite explain. It was as though a change was coming, a shift in the wind that carried with it a sense of destiny.

"Bogum has feelings for you, you know," Jimin teased, breaking the silence with a light tone.

Taehyung sighed, not in the mood for this. "Jimin, please."

Jimin smirked, knowing when to drop it. "I'm just saying, the way he looks at you..."

"Shut up," Taehyung said, though there was no real bite in his words. His mind was elsewhere, weighed down by the upcoming visit to the devastated Jeon pack.

After hours of travel, they finally arrived. The sight before them was worse than anything Taehyung had imagined. The air was thick with the acrid smell of smoke and burning, the remnants of the once-powerful Jeon pack now reduced to ashes. The land, once vibrant, was charred and desolate. Taehyung's heart sank.

Jimin stepped down from the carriage first, offering his hand to Taehyung, who took it and descended carefully. They both stood in silence for a moment, absorbing the devastation. Taehyung's chest tightened as he looked around at the ruins, the weight of the lost lives pressing down on him.

"Look around," Taehyung ordered the guards. "If anyone is alive, bring them to the other carriage." His voice was steady, but inside, he felt anything but calm.

"Yes, Luna," the guards replied, bowing before scattering across the ruins to search for survivors.

"The pack was beautiful," Jimin murmured, standing beside him. "I came here once with my father."

Taehyung hummed in response, his mind too overwhelmed to speak. He didn't want to talk, not today. He just wanted to understand how something like this could have happened.

Suddenly, a shout broke the silence. "Luna! There's someone here!" One of the guards called out.

Taehyung and Jimin quickly made their way toward the voice. When they arrived, the guard pointed to a small figure buried under a large piece of wood.

"It's a child," the guard said, his tone tinged with disbelief.

Taehyung's heart clenched. "Get them out of there!" he ordered, his voice sharp with urgency. The guards called for help, and after several minutes of struggling, they managed to lift the heavy wood.

As soon as the wood was moved, Taehyung knelt down in front of  the small figure. "Hey?" he whispered softly, trying to coax the child to respond. But there was no answer.

"I think they are unconscious," Taehyung said, gently brushing the dirt off the figure's face.

Suddenly, a loud scream broke the silence. "No!"

"He's alive!" Jimin said, his eyes wide with surprise. The voice was sharp and pained, belonging to a boy no older than six or seven.

"We mean no harm," Taehyung tried to soothe him, his voice soft and calm. But the boy was trembling, his small body shaking with fear.

"You'll kill me too," the boy whispered, his voice cracking as sobs began to wrack his tiny frame. His tears mingled with the dirt on his face, and the pain in his voice made Taehyung's heart ache.

"No, we won't," Taehyung said, his own voice thick with emotion. He could feel the boy's terror, the way he was crumpling under the weight of the horrors he had witnessed. "We're here to help you, I promise."

The boy's sobs grew louder, his body curling up tighter as if trying to protect himself from the world. Taehyung reached out, gently brushing the boy's hair away from his face. "You're safe now," he whispered. "No one's going to hurt you."

The boy didn't respond, too lost in his grief, but Taehyung stayed there, kneeling in front of him, offering what little comfort he could. As he looked at the broken child in front of him, Taehyung knew that this moment would change everything.
