After some casual conversation, Namjoon noticed how exhausted Jeongguk looked. The dark circles under the boy's eyes and the dirt covering his face and clothes made it clear. Without a second thought, Namjoon turned to Taehyung and said, "Take him to your room for now, until we can prepare one for him."
"You'll stay in my room, okay?" Taehyung softly said, guiding Jeongguk into the room before gently releasing his hand. He moved toward the closet, searching for something the boy could wear.
"Thank you," Jeongguk whispered, trailing behind Taehyung hesitantly.
"There's no need to thank me," Taehyung smiled, finding the boy's quiet gratitude touching. "You can sit on the bed if you're tired."
Jeongguk nodded, still too shy to respond fully, and slowly sat on the edge of the bed.
Leaving the room, Taehyung made his way downstairs. Maids greeted him with bows as he passed, and a few couldn't help but still admire the beauty of the future Luna.
"Tae, where are you off to?" Jimin's voice called out, catching up to him.
Slowing his pace, Taehyung sighed. "I'm telling the guards to bring some clothes for Jeongguk."
"You could've called them—" Jimin started but was cut off again, for what felt like the hundredth time today.
"I wanted to do it in person," Taehyung lied. The truth was he just needed space—needed to clear his head after everything that had happened.
Jimin raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. "You've been acting strange since you met Jeongguk."
Taehyung rolled his eyes, trying to brush it off. "Stop with the nonsense. He's just a kid."
He is just a kid... right?
More than kid, he is our mate
"Fine, say whatever you want," Jimin shrugged. "I'm off to see Yoongi. Wanna come later?"
Taehyung shook his head, grinning. "No, you go ahead and enjoy."
Jimin blushed slightly, playfully nudging Taehyung's shoulder before heading in the opposite direction. Taehyung continued toward the guards.
"Luna," one of the guards greeted, bowing as soon as he saw Taehyung approaching.
"I need you to go to the shops and bring back some clothes for the boy. Jeongguk," Taehyung instructed.
"What size should I bring?" the guard asked.
"He's six years old," Taehyung replied, realizing he didn't know much beyond that. "Just get what you think will fit."
The guard nodded, and Taehyung headed back to his room. His heart ached for Jeongguk as he realized how much the boy had already endured. He needed to make sure Jeongguk was safe, clean, and comfortable. More than that, Taehyung wanted him to feel cared for, even if trust would take time.
