Chapter 8.4
"Present"
The question brings silence while Lena sits in a daze, memories she tried to bury have more power over her then she had thought.
The huntress speaks as if she is in a trance filled with regret and anger "Because the childish love story I had imagined for us was just that... a story."

There is no thought of tomorrow while they begin to slowly undress each other.

"This life I live, the life Damon is living... it doesn't end with romance or love... no. Our lives just as yours will end only with loss... only with ashes falling from between our fingers... there are no happy endings for Lycans and hunters." says Lena with a dropped head.
Claudia stares through wet eyes at the hunter with both sympathy and defiance before taking a moment to herself outside of the cell-like room.
For a moment, Lena sits in silence until the silence is broken by a deep, rusty voice coming from the shadows.
"Is that how you remember it or are you just that natural of a liar?"
Sigurd steps out of the shadows, the Alpha and hunter glare at one another.
The Alpha edges towards Lena while he speaks, "You always had a clever tongue... It took me a moment to wade through the mental fog but after hearing that story... I remember you."
Lena's face remains unmoved but her eyes study Sigurd while he continues to speak, "I remember the real moment you and Lawrence met."
The Huntress comes to the realization of who Sigurd was to the Talbot pack, she remembers their connection; she also remembers how to manipulate him.
Sigurd is but a few inches away from Lena before he lowers himself to her level, he makes sure to show the fierceness in his eyes while he speaks, "I remember you entered our home, you smiled and told your clever lies, you made us believe you weren't anything at all... then... you killed my Camille."
The mere mention of Lawrence's cousin finally forces Lena to reveal a hint of regret, she grits her teeth and with that subtle moment, Sigurd is assured.
The Alpha grabs Lena by the throat, his fierceness becomes mourning, "You infiltrated our family, you broke us apart from the inside out... your freak of a cousin hunts me down only to leave us both horribly scarred, and you... murdered the love of my life!"
Sigurd keeps a firm grip while staring into Lena's cold, dead eyes.
"For all the terror and pain you caused, have you nothing to say?" asks Sigurd.
Lena clears her throat as Sigurd releases her, "I... I... I remember it all... but I don't remember you."
The lie infuriates the Alpha causing him to toss Lena against the stone wall with force, the hunter hits the wall so hard that loose pieces of stone fall to the dirt floor.
Pacing with fury to a face of instant regret, Sigurd stares at what he assumes is an unconscious Lena. He gives her a slight kick to see if there would be any reaction but there is none, this causes the Alpha to take his leave.
