CARE POV

I feel the blindfold covering my eyes, and darkness envelops me like a cloak. My heart beats faster than I care to admit, a mix of anxiety and anticipation.

– Can I take off the blindfold? – I ask, trying to stay calm, though my voice betrays the unease I'm feeling.

– You can... – Zayn whispers, his voice close enough for me to feel his breath against my ear. A shiver runs down my spine, an involuntary reaction I can't ignore. He knows how to stir my emotions, and it only adds to the tension in the air.

– Trust me. – His voice is warm and comforting, like a soft blanket. The vulnerability of being blindfolded leaves me feeling a little exposed, making time seem to drag on.

Anxiety grows as I wonder where we are. The silence around me is broken only by a gentle breeze and the distant song of birds.

Finally, I feel Zayn removing the blindfold. In one smooth motion, sunlight floods my senses, revealing a stunning view. We're at the edge of the River Wyre, where calm waters stretch before us, reflecting a sky painted in shades of orange and pink. The lush greenery and anchored boats enhance the peacefulness of the scene.

– Wow! – I whisper, my heart still racing not only from the beauty of the place but also from the intimacy of this moment we're sharing.
Before me, the water stretches out like a mirror, reflecting the sky with its blend of soft oranges and pinks, a result of the sun setting slowly on the horizon. The banks are covered in lush vegetation, with tall trees swaying gently in the breeze. The fresh scent of earth mixed with the essence of the sea fills the air, making me feel both alive and serene.

By the water, a small group of fishing boats rock gently, anchored at a wooden pier. The soft sound of waves lapping against the shore and the birds' song create a calming melody that wraps around me, while the sunlight reflects on the water as if the river itself is glowing.

– It's so beautiful here. – I say, feeling a sense of peace I haven't experienced in a long time. The scene is perfect, like something out of a dream, and nature seems to be celebrating this special moment between us.

Zayn smiles, watching me with a sparkle in his eyes that makes me feel even more cherished.

– I'm glad you like it. This place has always been my refuge, a spot where I can escape and find peace.

– It's perfect. – I reply, looking at him.

He chuckles and walks over to a rectangular stone, sitting on it with a relaxed air. I follow him, sitting beside him while I admire the horizon, the golden light of the setting sun bathing our space in warmth.

– I found this place a few years ago. – He sighs, lying down on the stone with a distant look. – You know, I needed a place to escape the stresses of life. Somewhere I could be myself, without pretending. Where I didn't have to lie to my parents about the bruises... a place where I could really clear my head.

His voice carries a vulnerability I hadn't seen before. His words feel like little windows into his soul, and I feel privileged to be one of the few allowed to see it.

– It was tough, Care. Sometimes it felt like everything around me was falling apart. This place... it's always been my refuge, where painful memories couldn't reach me.

I nod, fully aware of everything he went through. I imagine he must have felt the need to escape to a peaceful place countless times.

Zayn's parents were always like another family to me, which makes what he went through even more painful. But, unfortunately, they didn't appreciate him as they should have. They are more traditional people; they neither know nor understand what bullying is. To them, it's not something to be taken seriously. If you have problems, you should simply face them.
