Anna POV
I woke up early that morning, the nervousness still lingering. I looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes were tired, but I had no choice. I had to get ready for the interview. After splashing cold water on my face, I tried to shake off the anxiety.
I changed into my business attire, trying to look as professional as I could. Today was important. I had been waiting for this chance for so long, and I couldn’t mess it up. My mom made me a quick breakfast, giving me words of encouragement as I stepped out of the house.
I reached the bus stop and noticed it was more crowded than usual. I didn’t want to be late, so I squeezed into the crowded bus, standing the whole way. I distracted myself by glancing at my phone, trying to calm the nerves that threatened to overwhelm me.
After what felt like forever, I finally arrived at my stop. The area was quiet—too quiet. Large houses lined the street, but there was no one around. I pulled out my phone to check the map, but the signal was weak. Frustration built up inside me, and I could feel the panic rising. I had to find this place.
As I walked further down the deserted street, I noticed a man following me. I brushed it off at first, telling myself I was just being paranoid. But the further I walked, the more uneasy I became. He was still there, keeping pace with me. I tried walking faster, hoping he would leave me alone.
I glanced back again, and he was still there—closer now. My heart pounded in my chest. I had to get out of here, but there was no one around, and my phone still had no signal. I walked faster, almost jogging now. The man quickened his pace too.
When I finally built up the courage to look back, he was staring at me, a creepy smile spread across his face. He unzipped his pants, and I froze in fear. My breath caught in my throat, and I could feel tears welling up in my eyes. Without thinking, I turned and ran as fast as I could.
Tears streamed down my face as I ran, my heart beating out of my chest. I didn’t know where I was going, but I had to get away from him. Suddenly, a black car appeared in front of me, and I stumbled, falling toward it. The driver slammed the brakes, and I collapsed on the road, shaking.
A man got out, He was tall, with a strong build, and wore a black shirt. His voice was deep as he asked, "Are you okay? What happened?"
I couldn’t speak. I was still crying, trying to catch my breath. He handed me a bottle of water and said softly, "You’re safe now. Just breathe."
I nodded, taking a sip of the water, trying to calm down. For now, I was safe.
