Anna pov

The next day, I woke up feeling better, though yesterday’s events still lingered in the back of my mind. But today was different—I was meeting Emma, and we had plans to visit the museum. I got dressed quickly, pushing aside any lingering anxiety about yesterday. It was time to focus on something fun.

When I arrived at our meeting spot, Emma was already there, smiling brightly as usual. We hugged, and I could tell she noticed something was off.

“Are you okay? You seem a bit distracted,” she asked, her voice full of concern.

“I’m fine, just tired from all the job hunting,” I replied, trying to sound more upbeat. I didn’t want to worry her with everything that had happened yesterday.

We made our way to the museum, chatting about life, plans, and future goals. Emma always had a way of making me feel lighter, and as we walked through the exhibits, I felt the tension melting away. The poetry section caught my eye, so I stopped to read one of the verses.

That’s when I felt it—someone’s gaze on me. I turned around, and my heart skipped a beat. It was him. The man from yesterday.

He stood just a few feet away, looking at the same poetry piece, but this time he was dressed in a sharp dark blue suit. He looked even more striking than I remembered. For a moment, I didn’t know what to do. Should I say something? Before I could figure it out, he glanced my way and gave a slight smile.

“Small world, isn’t it?” His deep voice caught me off guard, but I managed to respond.

“Yeah, it seems so.”

Emma, noticing the exchange, leaned in and asked, “Do you know him?”

“Not really... we just met briefly,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

He stepped forward, extending his hand. “I’m Aiden. We crossed paths yesterday. Glad to see you’re doing better.”

I hesitated for a moment before shaking his hand, a mix of gratitude and nerves running through me. “Thank you for what you did yesterday. I don’t know what would’ve happened if you hadn’t been there.”

Aiden smiled, and there was a softness in his eyes. “I’m just glad you’re okay.” He glanced briefly at Emma before saying, “Enjoy the museum. Maybe we’ll run into each other again.”

With that, he turned and walked away. I stood there for a second, trying to process what had just happened. Emma, of course, wasn’t going to let it go.

“What was that all about? Who is he? And why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost?”

I sighed and decided to tell her everything—getting lost, the creep who followed me, and Aiden showing up just in time. As I spoke, Emma’s face went from shock to concern, and then to something more playful.

“That creep! But wow, Aiden, huh? He sounds like a knight in shining armor,” she teased, raising her eyebrows.

“He’s just someone who happened to be there at the right time,” I said, trying to brush it off. “Let’s just focus on today.”

We spent the rest of the day wandering through the museum, and slowly, I started to feel more like myself. By the time I got home, I felt a lot better. But as I lay in bed later that night, my mind kept drifting back to Aiden. There was something about him that I couldn’t quite shake.

Maybe it was just a coincidence, but something told me this wasn’t the last time I’d see him. And as much as I tried not to think about it, I couldn’t help but wonder...
