As we started walking back towards the resort, I felt a sudden push from behind. Before I could even react, Reshmi landed a punch right on my back.

I spun around, wide-eyed. "What the—"

Before I could even finish, she hit me again, this time square in the chest. "Ow!" I yelped, clutching the spot. "Reshmi! What are you—"

Thwack!

She smacked me on the head next, she sniffed, her eyes narrowed in that cute-but-terrifying way. "What the hell, Reshmi! Why are you hitting me?"

Her eyes flared up. “Why did you say Aanya is perfect for you, huh?” She gave me a stern look, hands on her hips.

I blinked, genuinely confused for a second. "Wait, that's what this is about? You actually believed that?"

"Obviously!" she snapped, glaring at me. "You said it with your own mouth!"

I rubbed the back of my head, still trying to process how this escalated. "Reshmi... I was trying to make you realize you're the one I care about. I was just—"

“Just what?” She crossed her arms, still fuming. “You really think saying another girl is better than me would make me feel better?”

I sighed, stepping closer. “No. I was just frustrated, okay? I didn’t mean it. There’s no one better for me than you. You’re the one I...”

She rolled her eyes, but I saw the corners of her mouth twitch, like she was trying not to smile. "You better mean that," she muttered, punching me on the arm again.

I grinned, pulling her closer in a gentle headlock. "I'm sorry and I promise, no more dumb comments like that."

Reshmi huffed, “move!’

“Baby please…” I whispered, but she kept pushing me.

“Leave me, Vikram!”

“No…I'm sorry na, please…”

“Did you both have a fight?” Angad asked, turning towards us.

Before I could even begin to explain, Reshmi turned to Angad with a dramatic sigh. “Your best friend doesn’t like me anymore,” she muttered, giving me a side-eye, “he likes Aanya more,” she added and walked straight inside the resort.

I blinked in disbelief, watching her retreating figure. “Oi! I don't! What the—”

Angad’s eyes narrowed instantly, and I could practically see the angry bull behind them. “What did you do this time, idiot?”

I opened my mouth to explain, but before I could even get a word out, Angad was already lunging at me, grabbing me by the collar. “How can you say that!?” he hissed, shaking me violently.

“Wait, wait! It’s not what you think!” I stammered, trying to wriggle free.

“You dumbass!” he roared, landing a solid punch to my shoulder. “How could you mess up this bad?”

“Ow!” I winced, rubbing my shoulder. “Dude, chill! It was a misunderstanding!”

“A misunderstanding?” Angad growled, shoving me again. “Reshmi's in there thinking you don’t care about her anymore, and you call that a misunderstanding?!”

I could feel the second punch coming before it even landed. “Bro, listen!” I ducked, barely avoiding his fist this time. “I didn’t mean to upset her, okay? I was trying to make her understand she’s the one for me, but I said some dumb stuff in the heat of the moment!”
