Limits

Rin, a 16 years old student, has always had a crush on her best friend, they're very close and knew each other for years now, tomorrow Rin decided to finally come out to her best friend as a lesbian and hopefully if she's accepting she could confess her long love to her as well.

Rin: Tomorrow.. i'll finally tell her everything in my heart.. she'll understand and accept me no matter what.. right?

As they're walking out of school, Lucy lends her hand to Rin without looking at her. Rin sees it and shyly tried to hold it.

Lucy: Fuck's sake just give me my phone and stop your weird shit, that's why everyone at school thinks we're together. She said as she rolled her eyes and took her phone.

Rin: Ah sorry Lu my hand just slipped i didn't mean to.. She quietly responded.

Rin stayed silent till she got to her room, locked herself in the bathroom and started crying soundlessly.

Rin: It's gross.. I know that more than anyone, i should stop assuming and know my stupid limits, I'm weird...

A week had passed by and Lucy has been subtly avoiding Rin, from spending her breaks with other friends, not sitting together in class, not waiting for her to leave school etc.
Rin was extremely distressed watching her friendship slowly drift away, she felt helpless, had she tried to talk it out or resolve it, she feared her friend would resent her rather than just ignore her.

In three days was Rin's birthday, she invited over her friends, more truly her classmates, she wasn't necessarily close with them, but her mother; Anthea, told her that she should try to socialise more with others as well and not just stick to her best friend.

Anthea: Well aren't you all lovely! I'm not seeing my sweet Lu did she not come with you guys?

Rin: She wasn't feeling well i didn't want to force her to come mum..

Anthea: Well after this we should go check on her she's your dear friend after all! Come in angels everything's ready for you to have all the fun today

That was a lie, Rin was too afraid to confront her friend again let alone invite her.
Anthea kept asking the girls how her daughter's doing at school, they told her how clingy she always is with Lucy and because they're all the time so close together people often assume they're dating or something, especially since Rin doesn't really have any guy friends. Anthea laughs it out and tells them that they're so close because they grew up together, but Rin can't help sensing the heavy tension, she knows how strict and religious her mother is, she'll never accept being told such things, not even as a joke, Rin was drowning in anxiety and couldn't say a word the whole evening. She excused herself to the bathroom and stayed there until the girls left, she felt nauseous and restless.

That night, her mother made her hear the harshest most hurtful words ever, she eventually forced her to get a boyfriend who was an apparently trusted relative.

The years went by, Rin unwillingly moved in with her new boyfriend Luca as soon as she finished school.
