At the front of the group of nine classmates stood the Hero, who wielded the sword known as 'World Splitter,' a sword gifted to the humans by Creator God Amaterasu about 1000 years ago. Only those chosen by God were capable of using it in battle. With 'World Splitter,' he was able to cut down the low levelled monsters from floor ten like it was nothing.
"Mmmrah!" He swung ahead of the others, chopping a medium sized wolf-like creature in two, leaving its splattered body laying immobile on the stone flooring.
"Behind you!" Then two more showed up from behind the party. Two sword wielding teenagers, both fifteen and sixteen sprinted toward them, the elder being Edith and the younger being Robert. Edith and Robert swung their blades toward both the wolves' heads, but the monsters countered by jumping backward and jumping forward once more.
"Nnrng..." However, at that moment Edith saw his grand opening. He stabbed the wolf straight through the chest and pinned it against the ground. The impact splashed deep green blood onto his clothing and face as it soon went limp. Robert was just about finished with his as well.
They gave each other a thumbs up and a friendly smile.
"Nice one, Edith!"
"Likewise."
"Alright. We rest here." When they were finished, they stopped along a secluded area of the dungeon which appeared safe from any monsters.
"Good...I'm exhausted." A thirteen year old girl, Kathlyn, said. She was a white mage who specialised in healing magics, though still inexperienced,
"How much longer till we're finished here?" She sat on the dirt ground and laid her wooden staff beside her. There wasn't any sunlight or moonlight, as the entire area was enclosed within a giant cave system. They were only given a light source due to the three black mages in their party. Where they stopped was just beneath a curved stone wall, above them was a cliff that appeared big enough to prevent any wyverns from spotting them. They couldn't see far out, but it appeared as though the dirt ground spanned at least a few metres ahead.
"The church ordered us to explore this dungeon until floor thirty, so if all goes well we should return in about a week." The Hero, Julieus, replied. He sheathed his greatsword at his back, folded his arms and looked away.
"Ehhhh? A week?! I can't survive that long! I'll die before we even reach floor twenty!"
"Look, if you want to leave, you can leave. I don't care either way since we've got other healers."
"N-no! That's not what I meant..." Kathlyn's voice trailed off into the distance, "...You're such an idiot, Julieus."
"Hmph." He pouted. Then without saying a word, he walked off.
"H-hey! Where are you going?!"
"Leave him." Edith said. He put a hand onto Kathlyn's little shoulder,
"He's always like this. I honestly can't tell why he was chosen to be the Hero."
"Edith..." Kathlyn gave him a small smile, resting a hand upon his, "...Thank you."
"Mm." He returned the smile. Then his sister, Elzia sat beside the guy.
"Exploring the dungeon's fun though, right? Stuff like this would be impossible back on Earth."
"Well aside from the monsters...I guess it is." Kathlyn turned to face the two, her small oval shaped white face turning in their direction and her beady blue eyes twinkling at the two. She was a short girl who wore a long white cloak with a hoodie at the back. Most of her body was covered by this, aside from her minute feet, which were covered by a pair of black sandals. Her black hair was short, reaching up to her shoulders. She always wore an excited smile on her face and hated anything involving violence and mistrust. She and Edith were close, close enough to mistake hylhi8mkijthem for a couple.
