Shattered Silence
Loki paced restlessly in his glass prison, eyes narrowed in thought. His steps were measured, deliberate, but something in his movement showed unease. Suddenly, he stopped.Loki: "There aren't many who can sneak up on me."
Natasha Romanoff's voice broke the silence, steady and controlled.
Natasha: "But you figured I'd come."
Loki smirked, his lips curling into a mockery of a smile.
Loki: "After... after whatever tortures Fury could concoct, you'd appear as a friend, a balm. And I would cooperate."
Natasha stepped closer, her eyes unflinching.
Natasha: "I want to know what you've done to Agent Barton."
Loki's grin widened, a flicker of amusement dancing in his eyes.
Loki: "I'd say I've expanded his mind."
Natasha: "And once you've won? Once you're king of the mountain?" Natasha's tone sharpened, "What happens to his mind?"
Loki tilted his head, eyes glinting with curiosity.
Loki: "Is this love, Agent Romanoff?"
Natasha: "Love is for children. I owe him a debt."
Loki sat down on the bench, his arrogance palpable.
Loki: "Tell me."
Natasha pulled up a chair, mirroring his action.
Natasha: "Before I worked for SHIELD, I made a name for myself. A very specific skill set. I didn't care who I used it for, or on. I got on SHIELD's radar in a bad way. Agent Barton was sent to kill me, but he made a different call."
Loki raised an eyebrow, his interest piqued.
Loki: "And what would you do if I vowed to spare him?"
Natasha: "I'm not letting you out."
Loki laughed, his voice dripping with condescension.
Loki: "Ah, no. But I like this... Your world in the balance, and you bargain for one man?"
Natasha: "Regimes fall every day. I tend not to weep over that," Natasha replied, her expression hardening. "I'm Russian... or was."
Loki leaned forward, eyes gleaming.
Loki: "What is it you want?"
Natasha: "It's really not that complicated," Natasha's voice lowered. "I've got red in my ledger. I'd like to wipe it out."
Loki's laugh was dark, sinister.
Loki: "Can you? Can you wipe out that much red? Drakov's daughter, So Paulo, the hospital fire?" His tone turned venomous, eyes locked on her. "Barton told me everything. Your ledger is dripping... gushing red, and you think saving a man no more virtuous than yourself will change anything?"
He stood abruptly, anger flashing across his features.
Loki: "This is the basest sentimentality... this is a child at prayer." His voice boomed as he stepped toward the glass, slamming his hand against it. Natasha flinched but didn't back down.
Loki: "I won't touch Barton," Loki spat, "not until I make him kill you. Slowly. Intimately. In every way he knows you fear." His voice grew darker, more malicious. "And when he's finished, I'll let him wake just long enough to see his good work, and when he screams, I'll split his skull! This is my bargain, you mewling quim!"
