ROWAN WOKE UP to a violent pounding in her head, throbbing at the thought of getting up and going on with her day. she sighed heavily, her mouth dry and distasteful. her arms spread out, laying out like a starfish, stretching every inch of her body.

instead of the other side of the bed being cold, it was slightly warm. at first, rowan thought nothing of it. warm country, warm bed. but the more she thought about it, the more she became even more confused. the AC was on. it wasn't warm in the room.

she squinted her eyes open, the light of the room blinding her. the blinds were slightly open, and the side of the bed she didn't sleep in was slightly rustled.

her eyebrows furrowed as she sat up. a glass of water was placed on the bedside table. her stuff wasn't there. in replacement, someone's bag was there. that someone's bag belonged to someone who she knew all too well.

george sat in the hotel lobby, his head in his hands, as arthur (tv) sat next to him, one foot propped up on the coffee table as they sat in silence, occasionally a groan escaping george's mouth.

mutters of 'this can't be happening' and 'fuck's sake' left his mouth ever so often, giving arthur the room to reply with a 'you're being dramatic.'

after a minute of bitter silence, he sat upright, bringing his back to the back of the couch.

"so what exactly happened, again?" arthur asked, still confused at george's explanation, as his words were being muttered out of pure embarrassment.

he turned to arthur, a look of annoyance on his face.

"i went to bed last night."

"as one does," arthur replied in a 'continue' manner.

"and rowan came with me,"

a snort could be heard from arthur. "i bet she did."

george's face grew red, his face dropped and his eyes swollen from the busy late night and early morning wake. arthur's eyes darkened, his mind in the midst of putting puzzles together.

"no,"

silence.

"george," arthur's head tilted.

"mhm,"

"no, i was messing. i was joking."

"yeah, but i'm serious."

"you got with rowan?!"

"oh yeah, tell the whole world, won't you?!" george slapped arthur's hand hard, cursing him for not being careful with his words.

arthur sat in deep silence, staring at george in utter disbelief.

"oh, i can't believe this," arthur stood up, his two hands on his head, walked two steps away from george, turned back around, and sat down in a further chair.

"i cannot believe this," he muttered over and over again.

this time, george stood up, followed arthur's action, and sat down next to him.

"you slept with rowan?" he mouthed out dramatically. george did nothing but stare at arthur.

a disgusted noise came from arthur as he laid back in the chair, his hands covering his face.

interrupting the two of them, a staff member behind the front desk approached them, slightly tapping george on the shoulder with one finger.

"is everything alright, sir?"

"yes!" george and arthur spoke in unison almost instantly, making the woman nod slowly and back up.

"pull yourself together," george said slowly and threateningly. arthur nodded quickly, putting on a casual face and trying to position his body in the most 'normal' way.

"arthur, i'm begging you, don't tell anyone. i don't even know if rowan remembers it. if she does, great. if she doesn't, it's staying that way because i will not be the one to tell her."

"george, you have to tell her," arthur said seriously, leaning in and digging his shoulders into his knees to prop himself up.

"yeah, and what would that sound like? 'oh hey, rowan, you look nice today. oh yeah, by the way, we had sex the other night'? absolutely not."

george took one more big sigh before leaning back in his chair, leaving this newborn 'secret' to ponder in the air between himself and arthur.
