Nonay had never known an easy day in his life. From the moment he was born, life seemed to throw one challenge after another at him. His name itself, Nonay, was a legacy of his ancestors, meaning "one who bears burdens." And burdens he certainly bore. If something could go wrong for him, it usually did.
At a young age, he lost his father to a sudden illness, leaving him to be raised by his mother, a woman of few words but deep love. They lived in a small village nestled at the foot of a towering mountain range, a place both beautiful and unforgiving. Nonay's mother worked tirelessly to provide for him, but no matter how hard they both tried, there was always something,a bad harvest, a sudden storm, or a piece of bad luck, that seemed to conspire against them.
Despite all of this, Nonay grew up to be a kind and resilient boy. He had the rare ability to find hope in the darkest of situations, a gift that allowed him to navigate life's endless challenges without losing his spirit. But there was one thing he hadn't yet faced,a challenge of the heart.
As Nonay entered his late teens, his thoughts began to shift from survival to something more profound, something that was both terrifying and exciting: love. He had heard stories of it from his mother, of the joy and warmth it could bring, but also the heartbreak and sorrow it could leave behind. Nonay wasn't sure if he was ready for such a powerful force in his already turbulent life. But fate, as it often did, had its own plans for him.
One day, while out gathering firewood in the forest, Nonay saw her. She was sitting by the river that cut through the woods, her short dark hair flowing in the wind, her eyes focused on the water as if in deep contemplation. Nonay's breath caught in his throat. He had never seen anyone so beautiful.
Her name was Dream.
Dream was new to the village, having recently moved from a distant town. Unlike the other girls Nonay had known, there was something mysterious about her, something that made her seem untouchable. Her beauty was obvious, but it was her aura of strength and independence that drew Nonay in. He had faced countless challenges in his life, but something told him that winning Dream's heart might be the most difficult yet.
Nonay knew he had to speak to her, but every time he tried, his courage failed him. Days turned into weeks, and each time he saw her, the words he rehearsed in his mind vanished into thin air. Yet fate kept throwing them together, as if the universe was giving him chance after chance to overcome his fear.
Finally, after much internal struggle and calculating , Nonay approached her one evening as she sat by the river again, her favorite spot.
"Hello," he said, his voice loud and proud but fully infected with nerves.
Dream looked up, her piercing brown eyes meeting his for the first time. She gave a little smile not changing her mood, but there was a flicker of curiosity in her gaze.
"Hey," she replied, her voice smooth and steady.
"I'm Nonay," he stammered, feeling more nervous than he had ever been. "I see you here often. I thought maybe we could talk?"
Dream studied him for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, Nonay. What would you like to talk about?"
That simple question sent Nonay's mind into a spiral. What could he possibly say to someone like her? But he wasn't one to give up easily. Taking a deep breath, he began talking about his life, the challenges, the hardships, the way the village sometimes seemed to conspire against him and his mother. To his surprise, Dream listened intently, her expression softening ever so slightly.
Over the next few weeks, they continued to meet by the river. Nonay told her more about his life, and Dream began to open up about hers. She came from a family of travelers, people who never stayed in one place for long. This was the first time she had lived in a village, and she found it both fascinating and suffocating. She was used to the freedom of the open road, of never being tied down. The idea of roots, of commitment, was foreign to her.
