HOT STEAM BLANKETED THE AIR, thick and suffocating, as Eren propelled himself forward across the top of Wall Rose.
The Colossal Titan loomed before him like a nightmarish sentinel from his past, its skinless form emitting waves of heat.
Eren's heart raced, but his focus was unshakable.
In an instant, the Titan's massive arm swung toward him like a wrecking ball.
Eren leaped just in time, narrowly dodging the blow as the Titan's hand slammed into the wall, shattering stone and cannons alike.
Hooking his ODM gear onto the Colossal Titan's shoulder, Eren hung in midair for a moment, glaring at the creature.
"It was aiming for the cannons!" Eren thought, his eyes narrowing. "It's not a coincidence it went to the gate either... This thing isn't mindless. It's sentient."
The realization chilled him as much as the heat of the steam burned.
The Titan's enormous head turned toward him, its hollow eyes locking onto his figure.
Eren gritted his teeth and launched forward, dodging the Colossal Titan's hand as it swiped at him.
He hooked onto its arm, weaving through its boiling steam.
"This is it! Our chance!" His thoughts surged with adrenaline as he ran along the titan's colossal arm, heading straight for its neck. "If I can kill him, this will all be over!"
The Titan swung again, but Eren maneuvered mid-air, dodging it effortlessly.
His target was clear-its neck.
He latched onto its shoulder, launching himself forward. "Too slow!" he thought, determination radiating from his every move.
"You're mine!" Eren's blades glinted as he prepared to slash the titan's nape.
But just as he was about to land the fatal blow, the Colossal Titan released a scorching blast of steam, forcing Eren backward.
The heat seared his skin as he struggled to maintain his grip. "What the...?"
Despite the burning steam that enveloped him, Eren pushed himself forward through the intense heat, refusing to give up.
But then, something unexpected happened.
The Colossal Titan's massive form began to dissipate, vanishing before his eyes.
One moment it was there, and the next, it was gone-like a ghost, disappearing into thin air.
"It vanished...?" Eren's wide eyes darted around, searching for any trace of the titan. His mind raced. "How...? It just disappeared... like back then."
