TO SAY THAT WALBURGA BLACK was disappointed when in the middle of the year 1973 a girl was born to her and her husband Orion would be an understatement.

Her eldest son and the supposed heir of the Noble house of Black, Sirius Black, at that time thirteen years old, turned out to be a rebel, to no one's surprise, only disappointment. Sorted into the house of the brave, everyone has been expecting his disowning. He went against everything his relatives had taught him.

Sirius was a handsome boy, despite the inbreeding running in the family and the other Sacred 28. Tall, black curls nearly reaching his shoulders, piercing grey eyes intimidating though a lot of girls and boys seemed to be getting lost in the storm brewing inside of them. His funny and flirtatious nature making more and more people swoon. Being naturally smart, he didn't even need to study to get exceptional grades at Hogwarts.

His cheeky grin and his mischievous smirk often made his parents frustrated and, in their words, made him beg for punishment. He usually spoke and chewed loudly, just to annoy them. His booming laughter infectious. His recklessness making him a target at family gatherings. Sirius loved to argue about beliefs and morals with his relatives, sometimes just to spite them, but others of purely being done and tired of the way they see the world. He put up muggle posters on his walls–some of some 70s bands and others of inappropriate women magazines. He painted his nails, mostly black.

He was the black sheep. And Walburga knew he couldn't be the heir ever since he was born.

She was desperate. She needed a new heir.

The second born, a boy named Regulus Black, was the perfect child. A Slytherin and a respectable wizard, his beliefs matching those of his parents. Unlike his brother, he was a quiet child. The boy had a mysterious aura surrounding him, his features were so similar to his brother's yet so different. His curly black hair cropped to his ears and instead of the usual grin Sirius wears, Regulus was stone faced.

His perfect posture, his loyalty and his obedience made him the perfect heir. His good grades made him perfect for a high ranked job in the wizarding world.

So why was Walburga Black angry that she didn't give birth to another boy when she already had an heir?

A simple year after Sirius Black was born, Regulus came to the world. Walburga had to have another child right after her first because she needed two choices for an heir if one of them grew up to be a disappointment.

And that's why after Sirius Black was sorted into Gryffindor on the first of September 1971, Walburga needed to have another child.

Aurora Druella Black was born on the 29th of July 1973, thirteen and a half years after her oldest brother and twelve years after her second brother.

After hours and hours of pain and contractions Walburga Black gave birth to her youngest child and only daughter.

Right after hearing the nurses announce the baby's gender–a girl–the woman's face twisted into a scowl.

She didn't want a girl. She wanted a boy, an heir.

Girl weren't worth much in the pureblood society. They grow up training to be the perfect housewife and child bearer. Walburga had always known that if she had a daughter, she wouldn't really care for her. And that was the truth. It wasn't a decision, she just felt like there wasn't any reason to care for a female child just to sell her off in the end.

That's what the woman would do in a few years time anyway but she felt annoyed at the thought of having to raise the girl for no reason at all.

She would never be proud or happy of her and wouldn't love her. Because what was there to be proud of a girl? If she grew up to be a talented witch, Walburga would be indifferent. Because a girl didn't need to be talented at magic, she needed to be a good wife. Hell, if she grew up to be the Minister of Magic, she would still be indifferent, because the only thing a girl is good for is in the domestic field.
