"Hey, Anne!" Marcy shouted happily, running into Anne in between 4th and 5th period.
"Oh, hey, Marbles!" Anne said back.
Anne and Marcy did a high-five like every day when they met up, then bringing their hands down and intertwining their fingers.
They began walking to class as Marcy spoke up. "So, what have you been up to?" She inquired, curious.
"I've been hanging out with Sasha for a while.." Anne replied, but there was a hint of nervousness in her voice and expression.
"Cool!-" Marcy suddenly noticed Anne's expression, triggering a raised eyebrow.
"Wait.. is there something bothering you?""Well.." Anne says, looking away from Marcy. "I kinda think Sasha..." her voice trailed off.
"Anne, what is it? You know you can tell me anything.. I'm your best friend." Marcy said, slight worry in her tone.
"..I sorta think Sasha likes me." Anne finally said, as she let go of Marcy's hand and crossed her arms.
"Wait.. what?" Marcy's eyes widened, she just stared at Anne in shock.
"Yeah, she's been showing me plenty of signs."
"How do you feel about it..?" Marcy raised an eyebrow.
"Well, I dunno.." Anne replied, turning her face away from Marcy.
"Do you.. like girls in that way?"
Anne felt her face flash red for a second, a little embarrassed.
"..Kinda? I don't really know. And it's been weighing on me a little."Marcy placed a hand on Anne's shoulder.
"Well, hey.. don't let it get to you too much. It's an identity. So if you need time, take time!"
"Alright.. thanks, Marcy." Anne was getting reassured, she finally turned her head towards Marcy again.
"It's no problem, Anna-Banana!" Marcy smiled at Anne, and they made eye contact for a few short seconds, before Marcy spoke up again. "Besides, I'm sure Sasha will always be friends with you if it's true that she does.. like you. Even if you reject her, you can always stay friends."
"Yeah, you're right." Anne smiled lightly with slight shyness. "But what's your opinion on her.. you know, possibly liking me, though..?"
"Oh, I don't mind much. If you two did end up getting together, it's not like I'd be mad. I'd be happy for you both!" Marcy said with a smile, she was being genuine.
"Oh, well, that's good to know.."
They arrived at Anne's class, and she stepped in.
"Well- bye, Marbles."
"See ya.."
They both waved at each other, lightly smiling.
