Mika and Airi walked in tandem, quickly shuffling between school buildings. They passed through the four-story school building built twenty years ago, and ran past the spacious audio-visual room just built ten years ago, and finally got through the wooden classrooms built a hundred years ago. The footsteps of Mika, Airi, and many others creaked on the old floor. The classmates chatted and sometimes laughed, but strangely, Airi didn't rush to Mika.

"Airi, hurry up!" Ren kept shouting.

But she didn't hear it. Her and Mika deliberately kept a few metres away, neither close nor far, like two same-sex magnets, repelling each other.

As Airi walked, there were more and more friends around her.

"Hey, Takumi-san, why are you so late today?" Airi turned to look at Takumi, who was carrying his schoolbag.

"Masuda-sensei from the history class won't let us go."

"Poor thing!"

"Hey, Airi-san, Takumi-san!" Another girl with big eyes and long hair came from behind.

"Ah, Momoko-san, you put on the contact lenses already?" Airi asked, "Yes, yes, there is no one in the bathroom today, so you don't have to wait."

The three of them were chattering while walking, except for talking to Mika who was walking in front. Mika acted as if nothing was wrong, lowered her head and walked forward swiftly.

Several times, Ren felt strongly the impulse in Airi's heart, the desire to go forward and talk to Mika, which floated and sank like a small piece of wood floating in the sea.

Ren actually wanted to rush forward and say a few words to Mika, to comfort her, to relieve her, to protect her. But he doesn't seem to be able to control Airi very well, who is not too tall, has a medium build, but has a pair of strong calves.

The harder he exerted himself, the more he wanted to take a big step, the further he got away from Mika. He wanted to call her "Mika", but what came out of his mouth was "Momoko-san". Ren felt the cowardice and uneasiness in Airi's heart.

As a result, among the group of people moving to the audio-visual room, Ren was on fire, Airi was uneasy, and Mika was absent-minded. Ren knew that Mika was an informal person and she probably wouldn't care if her classmates talked to her. However, he didn't know about the big quarrel that happened in the audio-visual room a few days ago.

Therefore, Mika is concerned. Because she is trying hard to adapt to this society, this society with a closed culture, this society where "no opinion is the best opinion".

Mika walked into the audio-visual room, put on her sports clothes, and stood at the back of the crowd.

Then the domineering captain Rina stood at the front of the audio-visual room.

The straight waist, the majestic ponytail, and the raised corners of the mouth all show the captain's pride and complacency.

"Stand straight!" shouted a female team member.

More than forty girls, like measuring sticks, stand side by side with their chests raised, not showing any signs of movement.

"Salute!"

More than forty girls bowed sixty degrees at the same time.

"Good afternoon!" said the beautiful and fair-skinned Rina.

"Good afternoon!" The voices of more than forty girls and one boy echoed in the audio-visual room.

"Today's practice is very important. Next week, the teacher will select the twenty players who will represent the school in the Kanto Competition, so don't relax today. Those players whose movements were not perfect last time must practise hard today. Remember, our goal is national representation!"
