The moment the sun began to shine on my face, I woke up. My bed is beside the window, where the wind causes the drapes to blow, allowing the sun's rays to dance across my face. It annoyed me because I have light sleep and am easily disturbed by small things. I got out of bed, went about my daily routine, and left the bedroom. I spotted Scarlet making my favourite toast in the kitchen as soon as I left the room. Scarlett is the one person I can blindly rely on for meals after Clarisa.
'Good morning, Sophie,' she said with a sweet grin.
'Good morning!' I said with a sour tone.
'Do you still need some time to come back to consciousness ?' said Scarlett as a joke.
"Save the conversation u rile after breakfast ," I said as I looked at the delicious-looking meal.
I helped Scarlet with the dishes and other housework after breakfast. I wouldn't have been cleaning the dishes and other chores if Clarissa had been here, which is why I miss her. Scarlett cooked a soup with a variety of vegetables because I was not in the mood for lunch because I had eaten so much. Although I'm not a big fan of vegetables, these girls have made it mandatory for me to eat some at least once a day. But making faces when they're there is and always will be a constant.
It was evening, and I started to get bored sitting around my house. Scarlett ignored my question when I asked if she wanted to go out and hang out with some friends. There are moments when I find it hard to understand why these two girls avoid social interactions. It is great to get to know people and converse with them. Also, you never know what information will come in handy as an assassin. They have so assigned me the responsibility of keeping myself updated on all the rumours and keeping in touch with people.
In any case, I went to Camila's place to improve my mood and change the tiny environment. Camila was the hand maid of one of the most popular courtesan in the town. she was a mindless bigmouth too. I spent about an hour there before returning to our home. I talked to Scarlet about all the rumours.
' I wish Clarissa was here to discuss this' I said
"Don't worry, she will be here very soon," Said Scarlet, massaging my back with one hand while holding another.
'What's for dinner?' I asked
'Umm.... I was thinking......'
'Can we go out?' before she could say anything I blurted out.
'Actuallly..........'
I was aware that she would say no because these girls have put me on such a tight and healthy diet that I only get cheat day once every week, and I've already lost it two days back. But me being me, I made a baby frown on my face since I knew she would melt at my not so disappointed face, and I was also damn sure it was working.
'You know, you are on diet right ' said Scarlet softly.
I scowled once more, but I knew she was aware of my tact, so I assumed it wouldn't stay. I finally gave up and sighed.
'But'
Wait there's a but. I looked at her excitedly right away, and she smiled wickedly at me. I knew that this bitch would melt, and I was well aware of my abilities.
'But you have to promise me one thing' I demanded immediately with a realisation
'What, baby?'
"You won't tell Clarissa about it because I will have to wait for my favourite pie and pudding to come around for the next two weeks if she finds out."
"Don't worry, I'll not," Scarlet vowed.
After getting ready, we headed to our favourite restaurant, Foxiz Diner, for dinner. There, I ordered my fave rice-pancake and she ordered a mocktail called Singoria .Dinner was delicious as usual, and we had a great time hanging out. At times, I think hanging out with her is more enjoyable because, we have a lot in common that I feel I don't have with Clarissa. Although Clarissa is a very grown person, she will always be my very favourite person. Scarlett on the other hand, combines the playful and the mature. Every time we hang out, I transform into this crazy, wild, and uncontrollable person. We laugh half the time without knowing why, and we laugh uncontrollably most of the time when we do. We become this wild duo that sometimes Clarissa disowns us. However, they are both my friends, and much more so than that, they are like my real sisters.Returning home is always a wonderful feeling. I used to love taking late-night walks by myself, but today I went with Scarlet. Scarlet said that she would want to spend some alone time in the garden. I took that as clearance and opened the door. There, I noticed an envelope. I noticed a seal when I turned it over. It had a golden coiled snake stamped on it surrounded with black wax. The type of seal that Clarissa employs to send us any messages. There was a written note inside the envelope when I opened it.
"Hey! I have ordered some stacks of copper knives form Sir Marcus's armoury. So, at midnight; a guy named Ivo will come for the delievery. So do collect it from him and place it somewhere safe. I will be back soon and until tell Scarlet to take care of you both.
Yours,
Clar"'Ugh! Not the delivery again.' I said frustratedly.
Since I'm a light sleeper, I hate having to take deliveries because it usually occurs at midnight and makes it harder for me to go back to sleep.
I opened the door at midnight when three strange knocks sounded on it ,to see a man carrying a large brown box. After taking the box from him, I was going to shut the door when he requested to have a drink of water. I just partially closed the door and headed straight for the kitchen because I was sleepy. I heard Scarlett come out of her bedroom as I placed the box on the table with a little loud thump. She came in when she noticed the door open and realised I was in the kitchen.
'What's going on?' she asked while rubbing her eyes.
'Nothing. Just the delievery of knives Clarissa ordered.' I said
'delivery of what!' she asked with a confused face
'Kni....' I stopped and sudden realisation jolted me to full consciousness.
Before we could do anything, a guy with a black cloak and that delievery guy came in and hit us hard in head and we both fall unconscious on the floor. He smirked down at me and said,
"Some assassin you are"
