Rose was exhausted. She had been on watch all night and her sexist supervisor had her on doubles even though if a guard did night they were free for the day. The rules didn't apply to her. She was the error. The colour that stood out and was hated amongst the black and white.
She wasn't trained for this. She didn't even want to do this. But there was no escape. She had to accept her fate of death and what was to become of her. A vampires meal. Nobody would ever go back to civilisation after the war even if the humans did win. The chances were next to non existent. Humans couldn't beat supernaturals. It was common knowledge.
This didn't stop people signing up to join the war though. They were either here because they despised vampires or because they thought they would go home as a war hero. Or they came here with privilleges. Kids of old commanders. Retired commanders who had made a name would send their kids in and they would be given the job of general before even stepping foot into the trenches.
Rose was the exception. She didn't despise vampires. She admired them. Nor did she want to go back with a big name of a war hero. She had nothing to go back to. She didn't even come because of privileges because she didn't even know her parents. She hated the human race. But she couldn't say that here. She had nowhere to go. She was sold to the army and would have to serve till death. Even if she could run, where could she run to? If a vampire saw a human they would rain them instantly. And if she ran to a human village where would she go?who would she ask for help? He would find her no matter where she ran to. There was no escaping the war unless it was death do you part from this hell on earth.
