I wrapped a bandage around her leg after I had cleaned it with a bit of water from my bottle. She had winced when I cleaned it but I instantly calmed her to make sure she didn't attract anyone. I had tried to help her stand up but she had fallen so I had to carry her. She was hesitant at first but I think she realised I was only trying to help because she cuddled into my body to seek more warmth then the tiny bit the thin blanket gave her.

By the time the sun rose we were deep in the forest. The trees were dancing over our heads as the breeze enveloped us in its cold grasp. Skylar had fallen asleep a while ago leaving me to get stuck in my own head. If the humans found me I would be dead. If a vampire found me I would be dead. My fate was definitely sealed now. There was no escaping what would happen once someone found me. It would probably be a vampire to kill me because I do have one of their own. I hope it's a vampire. A death from them would be mercy compared to the humans. I would be seen as a traitor. I would definitely be kept alive just for torture. I just pray that Imogen wasn't found. I hope she got away.

I was snapped from my thoughts as I heard a branch snap in front of me. My eyes shot up as I saw dark figures circling us. This was bad. This was really bad. Skylar had started to wake up but I put my finger on her lip to make sure she didn't give away our place. The figures were close enough for me to see their purple eyes. There were 5 pairs of eyes circling me. Yet they weren't looking at me. They were looking at Skylar and she was trembling. Was she not seen as one of them? What was happening?

The figure in front of me spoke first. "Hand over the girl and we will let you go. We didn't see you and you didn't see us." His voice was dark. He was a rogue vampire. The details became clearer as he stepped forwards. His clothes were ripped and he had a scar across one of his eyes showing that he was banned from the vampire community. I wrapped Skylar more into the blanket so she couldn't see them.

"Back off." That seemed to get their attention because they started to get closer to me. I hugged her closer to my body. I wouldn't let her be subject to the harshness of the world. She was too young. I would protect her and her innocence no matter the price I had to pay. "If you want her you will have to come through me first!" My voice was loud and demanding. Something I had never done before. My tone made me flinch. This wasn't me but if I wanted to protect Skylar it would have to be.

I heard laughter before the one in front of me spoke, "gladly~". His voice was joyful. This wasn't good. Before I could think anymore everything went dark as I got hit from my back with my arms still securely wrapped around Skylar.
