- Chloe -

it was going to be the worst day of my life.

i woke up the next morning with a sore throat, when i stumbled down the stairs to get breakfast Luke complained that i looked pale and of course Calum agreed, while he rested his hand on my forehead.

"Chloe! you're burning up, love. we need to get you to bed." he said kindly, as he took my hand and led me upstairs.

"no, i can't..Ashton and i are supposed to be going out. i need to go.."

"you are going to bed- and that's final!" Calum said and i glared at him. this was going to be an amazing day and instead i was going to be stuck in bed.

Calum forced me under my duvet and Luke came soon after with a thermometer and a glass of water.

"stitch this under your tongue." he said, pressing a small button which caused it to beep. "and no talking!" Calum added as i slipped the small white stick into my mouth.

i waited for a few moments before it began to beep, signaling that my temperature was ready to be shown.

"oh goodness." Luke muttered, as i closed my eyes. i will admit i was sleepy and my head felt very stuffy.

"she has a fever of 101.4. Cal, will you and Ashton go get some stuff from the store? cold medicine, popsicles or sherbet. i doesn't matter, just as long as it's not ice cream. ice cream makes it worse."

i groaned slightly, all the talking going on was making my head spin. "shut up, please?" i murmured, as i slipped into a sleep.

- Ashton -

i checked the clock. 8:30 am. everything was ready for this afternoon. i was planning on picking up pasta from this nice restaurant and storing it in a container for us.

i was just finishing moving my hair around when Calum walked in my room, causing my door to swing and hit the wall.

"has knocking gone out of fashion that quickly?" i scolded him and he grinned cheekily.

"sorry. but Chloe has a high fever, she can't go on your 'date' today. Luke asked me to ask you if you could pick some stuff up from the drug store for her?"

i looked at him for a moment. Chloe sick? poor thing!

"of course i'll go! what does she need?" Calum grinned quite impishly before replying."

"marijuana, steroids, tobacco..."

"CAL!" he began to laugh and i chuckled.

"actually she needs cold medicine, cough drops, advil, popsicles, tea, that kind os stuff. oh! get me some gummy worms please!" he trailed off, walking out my bedroom door and down the hall to his room.

i grabbed a hoodie and my car keys. i was going to get Chloe everything she needed to get better.

--

i fumbled with my keys, trying to open the front door.

i had just come back from the drug store, where i had bought everything one might need to recover from a cold.

i finally got into the door, dragging the plastic bags with my purchases behind me.

Michael poked his head around the corner and began to laugh. "did you buy the whole store?"

i looked down at the bags. popsicles, there were three different kinds, three bags of cough drops, five different kinds of tea, advil, Nyquil and Dayquil in both pill and liquid form, tissues, and the gummy bears for Calum.

"well maybe i did overbuy..." i mumbled, as i looked at the receipt. Michael came closer and something caught his eye. he grabbed a box of grape flavored popsicles. "i'll take these! Luke told me she hates grape flavored things." i nodded and went to go check on her.

i opened the door quietly, noticing that she was curled up, shivering, in a ball on her bed.

i quickly puled up the duvet around her, tucking her in and watching her sleep.

she was really beautiful.

i slid something out of my pocket and propped it on her nightstand, a blue envelope.

yes, i got her a get-well-soon card. what can i say? i really did want her to have a good day. i hoped it make her smile.

i hovered over her and kissed her forehead gently. she was burning up, but that didn't stop me from brushing my lips against her hair.

"Ashton?" she mumbled, as i looked into her eyes. they were glazed over and bloodshot, her words slurred.

"yeah, love. it's me. you need anything?" she looked at me for a moment, blankly and emotionlessly. "i don't know, maybe you could actually kiss me.." she trailed off.

i looked at her in shock. "what?"

"let me love you!" she cried, kissing my hand. i began to crack up. she was obviously hallucinating on account of the fever.

i was all up for kissing her, but i wanted her to remember it. so i drew up the covers around her and exited.

i was going to get medicine and tissues.

i, Ashton Irwin, was on a mission to see my girl get better.
