The concept of reincarnation, accompanied by the whole idea of allowing a lost soul to reborn in another world, could have never been more of a sham. Since, in the eyes of many, it was just too good to be true. And even more so, to be allowed to reincarnate as the avatar of a video game character, in which someone has put their heart and soul, would let anyone thank whatever providence they believed in for the opportunity presented to them. Yet, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. It never was.
People don't change that fast. The person behind the avatar, behind the screen, would carry on the struggles that forced them to find a new sense of purpose in another place. Since, after all, that was the reason for so many people to play video games. It allows them to just escape the misery of their reality, whether it was their fault and mistakes, or simply the destiny giving them a horrible set of cards. It didn't matter online. There, people could find everything they never had. There, they could be the person that, in real life, they had wished to be, and it was there, where they could find people like them.
So, with that in mind, when someone loses all, including their last piece of heaven. The little place they called home. Would a new beginning allow them to find salvation? Would a new world give them what they desperately always wanted?
Well, that was the question a little girl asked herself.
Under the moonlight, staring at the beautiful sky, where the hundreds of stars shine upon her. The girl took a deep breath, enjoying the sensation of pure air in her lungs. It was something the toxicity and radiation did not permit her to do in her old world. The world where she came from was a rotten one, and not just theologically, but also literally. A long war broke and the planet Earth was brought to its knees and put on life support. The Nuclear power of her time destroyed entire continents, killing everything humanity once knew. And the decades that followed only made things worse. Yet, humans were resourceful, and like always, find ways to survive.
Still, it was not a life worth living for. It was dark and gloomy. Filled with desperations and numbness. That's what she felt every day. She knew the life she carried was worth nothing there. And often, she thought about just ending it all. It was a mere thought, of course, but then again, she dreamed about it, to just find the perfect spot in a tall building, and jump with her eyes crossed. It sounds simple enough. And it would end quickly. Or so she thought.
Yet, I never did it.
The girl smiled at the reason she was there. And it was Yggdrasil, without it. She would have just been another innocent soul, lost forever, and never remembered. Yggdrasil was her life. The only reason she woke every morning, and went and worked in that god-awful place, where she was mistreated and abused in horrible and shameful ways. Yggdrasil was her life and only purpose. And the people she met there, her friends, were the light in the tunnel. But everything has to end someday and Yggdrasil was not the exception.
She remembered spending all night in her guild, waiting, hoping, praying, that the people she considered family would come just one last time and not just for their guild, Ainz Ooal Gown, but for her. She wanted them to come for her, to save her. But yet, none came. So, with nothing in her mind and soul. She sat on the throne of her fading guild, and home, waiting for the end and while Yggdrasil came to a close, taking with it all, she holds dear.
Destiny, or whatever it was, seemed to have another plan for her. It was an awful sensation; she recalls. The feeling of being crushed, and push around, as if she was a piece of cloth in a washing-machine. It was horrible and painful. But it soon ended, and with it, the old life she once held.
"And here I am... in this strange place... this strange world, in the child-like version of my Yggdrasil character."
The girl whispered while looking at the sky, still having problems believing it was real.
